Blues need Steen this year more than ever with Backus leaving, it would cost more than you would be willing to give, moving Steen just does not make sense at all

I dont see why the Blues woudl trade him at this point in their franchise cycle nor do I see why they Canucks should be dealing any asset for a player probably getting close to, if not already in, his decline.

Somebody hasn't been watching Steen....

Both teams want to/should get younger, so it would make no sense at all.

I mean what Canucks player/prospect would they even want to give up?

Vancouver is only slowing their rebuild up by getting more 30+ players - but I guess I understand them trying everything to make the team competitive to give the twins one last chance at the puck.

Steen hates the Canucks.

Judging by his numbers against them, I'd say he's pretty fond of them in a sense...

At his age and the Canucks' state (should be rebuilding), Steen makes zero sense for the Canucks at anything close to fair value—he'd command a big return at fair value, but I'd hate to see the return at "Benning value."

What would it take for the Canucks to land Alex Steen?

Stupidity is what it would take, we would have to give up far too much value to get a player like Steen and we need to keep getting younger not older and certainly not at the expense of our future. This trade makes no sense for either team.

I'm just saying, he always plays a little extra feisty against us. He's normally a pretty fierce competitor but I think he hates the Canucks from the Burrows/Kesler/Lapierre days. Always throws a slash or little cross check everytime a Canuck hits him. I've watched Blues playoff games where he doesn't do that.

I'm not complaining though, I actually find it quite funny.

Miller, Vrbata, Eriksson.

Miller is gona after this year, Vrbata is already gone and Eriksson was a very good signing. Also 3 players, doesn't really seem like a lot and they are all short term except Eriksson. Now how many players has Benning brought in that are below the age of 25.

Steen is pretty good with little slashes and pokes here and there against most teams, he has slight nasty side. Its just enough to not get noticed and get called but he really unleashes it for he Canucks, seemed to come from the series where players were talking about Backus's wife and that series got a bit ugly.

Steen would be awesome but the players/picks that St Louis would ask for are things we can't afford to give away right now.

Steen is about the opposite direction the LW need should be filled. He's about the same age as the old core, expensive to acquire as he's great for the team he's on, expensive against the cap and I'm quite sure owns some type of NTC.
IMHO Vancouver would probably top Edmonton right now as least desirable place for a player in the twilight of his career already on a contender.

Oh, for sure.

Hates the team, but loves playing them.

No way. I enjoy Steen killing the Canucks too much to trade him to them. We can't afford to trade away any scoring as it is anyways.
