Up and down winger with decent speed and physicality.....seems like an AHL project, but the kind of guy we need a bit more of in the lineup .....do we have room for him and should we sign him to a contract when the OHL playoffs are done?

I mean this definitely doesn't need it's own thread but I don't see him getting an NHL deal. An AHL contract sure.

Sign, burn a year with him going back as an OA. If he committed to a college not sure what that would occur with his draft rights. I think as of today, he still would go back in the 2025 Draft.

If they don't sign him by June, he re-enters the draft. Would have to get unpicked there before Hawks could sign him to an AHL deal. If he got re-selected, the new drafting team would hold his rights for 2 more years, at which point they could do the Year 1 OA and Year 2 AHL Contract deal before giving him an ELC if they think he's progressed well enough. Hawks have had Marcel Marcel on an AHL deal after drafting him as an age 19 player, while holding his draft rights and deciding if they want to give him an ELC or not for comparison.

I can't see Pharand being drafted again if the Hawks don't sign him and I can't see another team signing him to an NHL deal when his rights expire. He's a very bland player. Big guy, but not very physical, doesn't play with an edge, doesn't score.

Maybe. It’s a pretty bad draft so idk what the rest of the 6th-7th round potential options out there look like.
