I don't think we have anything special in Newhook but I like his versatility, a good asset to have going forward. Just needs good players around him to produce though. Obviously a poor time to shop him around with the slow start he's had this year.

To people who think we overpaid for Newhook, he's pretty much what you hope to get in a very good scenario with a late 1st or early 2nd round pick, which we paid for him. No regrets on that.

Every player needs good players around him to produce, that's a fallacy. I don't think he's worth a 1st and a 2nd anymore.

meh... he'll be a fine 3rd liner. he's just not a 2nd liner, which is what is expected of him right now.

When Laine's back and, next year, Demidov, Newhook will be in the good chair on the 3rd line.

And that's fine. I don't think anybody is arguing that Montreal shouldn't just keep him if he's a useful fit somewhere in their lineup. But I don't think his current value to other teams is what Montreal acquired him for.

I'm thinking a 2nd is the max we could get.

Is that something special when he only scored 34 points and you’re comparing it to a season where Zegras missed camp and then was injured most of the season. Talk to me when he’s hit 60+ like Zegras has twice already. Ppg means very little when you’re only talking about 34 points and that being his highest points total of his career so far.

And again, what other comment are you referring to because I had no other comments in the thread except the one your replied to.

And your definition is comical considering he was very good up until just last season. That doesn’t equal “for awhile now”.
Newhook had a high ankle sprain and put up 21 pts in 31 games when he returned

Amazing how both him and Jost fizzled out. How did the Avs get both of these players so wrong. Both seem like theyre great hardworking NHLers, but the points dont come.
The more you stop looking at Avs picks past 4th, the better our drafting looks.

What I meant is that he's more of a complementary type player than a line driver.
So would you accept a 2nd or a 3rd and another complementary player?

Hopefully with more physicality than Newhook.

You realize complementary players are plentiful across the league, and our needs are outpacing Newhook.
