Player Discussion Alex Newhook (Part 2) : Book an Appointment with New Look Edition

He's so good at finding space and creating space but he's so bad with puck decisions. He can never understand when to shoot the puck and when to pass it. And whenever he's the "one pass too many" he passes is straight onto the stuck of an opposing player.

It's completely mental with him because he literally skates circles around guys with the puck every game. He's a faster and terrible around the boards version of Lars Eller. Without the defense too.

He's absolutely a guy who could be a difference maker but isn't. I wouldn't necessarily throw him out this summer but holy shit does he need some one-on-one coaching. I could absolutely see him as a 60-70 point guy, but could also see him in the KHL two years from now setting point records there.

“He's a faster and terrible around the boards version of Lars Eller. Without the defense too.“

What you just described, is a terrible and easily replaceable NHL player.. and we have him centering our second line. Oof.

-2, 0 pts.. loses faceoff in OT, doesn't cover front of the net.. why?

At what point must these players start getting benched for others willing to do the right plays? We dont even look to the 2nd line for goals.. just don't eff up.. thats all.. and even then, they continue, as they have all season.

Dach was attached to him most the year and looked his best away from him on the Suzuki/Caufield line. Laine has been attached to him and has struggled to do anything 5 on 5. Demidov hasn't generated much the last 2 games with him.

Guys like Dach/Laine have been shit on most the year, but the common denominator here is the guy who's played top six minutes and on the PP all year, yet somehow only has 11 assists.

What did Colorado do with those picks? Remember, just like a young player like Newhook, draft picks aren't sure to pan out.

Doesn't matter what Colorado did with them tbh.

They would have served us better to roll the dice on new talent in a rebuild than this guy who sucks.

A waiver wire pickup could get 26 points playing in the Top 6 all season.
Mesar, the 26th point overall, may never see the NHL...

What did Colorado do with those picks (actually asking because I'm too busy and lazy to look it up). But if Colorado didn't get much with the picks, they didn't fleece us. They got a shot and good players and missed, just like us.
