2-3 years at 5-5.5M would be smart...and that's high end $$

After that, you're getting into the bad years.

I do wonder if Treliving will have him as a target, based on the Blake Coleman signing.

Seems like a guy Treliving would target

They have about 20 million With the right moves, they could do it.

I'm not suggesting that I want this, I think anything beyond 3 years is pushing it.

But they could do it and he does seem like a Treliving type of player
The leafs have 20 million in space?

Time will catch up with him eventually but I truly think his game will age a lot better than most in this thread believe. Barring injury I could see him still being effective as he approaches 40. Like I said earlier he’s had little in way of injuries to this point, he’s not overly reliant on physical attributes, and far from declining he’s somehow managed to get better and better over the last few years. He probably has another 2-3 years as a solid top six forward but I could easily see him being effective in the middle/bottom six for another 2-3 after that a la Corey Perry.

The AAV would need to make the risk on the back end worth it.

If I am going 6 years, the AAV would need to be like 2.5M and heavily front loaded or something, not realistic but most UFA contracts aren't.

I think he could help a guy like Bedard next year.

If he would sign a deal like that the Lightning would just keep him.

I’m not saying it’s necessarily a smart move for a team to give him something like $5M x 6 years, but I could easily see it happening. Some team will be willing to overpay for the last years of his contract to be able to have him for the earlier ones.

what do people think of palats contract?

father time catches up everybody
he's got like 70+ playoff games on top of his regular season wear and tear

he'll get every dime and he can get and the team will regret it 1-2 years in.

Palat is a beast in the postseason and all else being equal his game would also age well, but the key difference between him and Killorn is that Palat has a long injury history. I can definitely see his contract becoming regrettable moreso than Killer on the same deal.

Blake Coleman got similar but I think was a bit younger...but didn't produce as much.

Not sure if it was because it's Calgary they had to overpay BUT your point stats, will we be surprised if Killorn were to pull it? No. Plus he's got the cups, go for the $$.

I really could not imagine Killorn with other team rather than Bolts.

4 years - 5.5 mil cap hit. Will bring him to 37 and he doesn't show clear decline yet. If he sucks after 35, the cap hit won't hurt much due to cap rising and short term.

He'll definitely be an interesting contract to see. On the one hand, he's a pretty ideal complementary Top-9 Winger. On the other hand, he's old and that's gotta tap the brakes at least on term. But there are so many teams out there looking for a playoff proven complementary two-way winger like that...he's probably going to get one of those contracts that people balk at. It might not even be a disaster though. He's so useful in so many different roles. Even as he ages out of a scoring role...he should still continue to be a useful grinder in a bottom-6 role.

He'd be a darn good add for a team like Carolina who need exactly what he offers.

He's a better player now than he was 5 years ago. I think he can get 6m on a short term deal, 4.5 or 5 longer term.

We are gonna miss him.

Because he said he would retire when he was exposed to the expansion draft if Seattle picked him.
no he didnt. He said he wants to retire in tampa and he would be really unhappy. He really doesnt want to go to Seattle.

Then in that conversation said he No No when they said pull a spezza and say you would retire if something else picked him up.
