I think the only way Alex Formenton plays in the NHL is with a US team, he will be under heavy scrutiny in a canadian market.
Like Boston or Arizona? C'mon, man. No team is signing him if they think he was one of the 8 in the room.

for a 23 year old with size and speed coming off a pretty good season, the whispers must be mighty loud behind closed doors.

after the 5 pm deadline today….any player signed must clear league wide waivers . He issue of QO doesn’t matter Other than retaining exclusive rights on a RFA. if they don’t issue the QO on RFAs they become UFAs. With the QO expiring, they still maintain exclusive rights.

thr bigger issue is…say they do sign him, then the league likely steps in and suspends him. Thrn Ottawa loses cap space unless they terminate the contract which then makes him a UFA. This is why the QO expires.

You‘re mixing up two different things.

Dec 1st is the deadline for RFAs to sign. It’s a hard deadline.

Dec 15th is the deadline for UFA players who played this season in Europe to sign without having to clear Waivers. (Doesn’t apply to RFA players)

If the NHL doesn't step in and put the kybosh on a trade I'd offer up a 4th as a Sharks fan. He's play makes him worth more. But.....

You're 3 hours too late. He cannot be signed for this year.

I expect him to sign somewhere in Europe.

Anyone know where Formenton is skating/working out? Have there been sightings? Is he in Ontario? Very weird radio silence even from his agent. I presume he will head to Europe now?

an example of media linking him to the world juniors scandal without naming him

Last line-

He scored two goals and posted four points in seven games en route to winning gold with Canada at the 2018 world juniors.

Have a feeling he's done for pro hockey in North America. Plus a few others are playing on borrowed time.

Unless something concrete comes out as a result of the investigation, there's no way he's finished.

Virtanen was accused of far worse and he got a PTO. If he wasn't a terrible hockey player he'd be in the NHL right now.

And if he wasn't accused of anything, he'd still be in the NHL.

Sens are clearly waiting until the HC and NHL investigation concludes.

If they don't find anything significant he'll be back in the NHL next season. Likely not with the Sens or with any other Canadian team, but somewhere in the U.S where the Hockey Canada scandal wasn't major news.

How was what Virtanen was accused of "far worse"?

As for being finished, Bettman might disagree with you.

While there's plenty of speculation of who may be involved and everyone has an opinion. Not one report has linked a player to the incident that occurred beyond saying they were on the team. There has been no report on who was involved nor how they were involved.
If there was no report, pretty sure a vast majority of the players on the team have made public comments saying they were not involved, so it leave the 7 that were involved… The best thing for these guy would be to face the justice because the court of public opinion is basically a life sentence…

has Batherson been eliminated ? I recall a preseason interview where he states that he's participating in the investigation process but doesnt flat out deny anything akin to others earlier in the summer

Saying 7 haven’t spoke would be incorrect though. All but one have made a statement. There’s 3 others who haven’t denied involvement from what I’ve gathered. The rest in one way or another deny involvement or any wrong doing. If that’s how you determine guilt or innocence you are left to over analyze carefully scripted statements.

Has there even been clarification on how many of those involved played on the team? It was originally reported that there was 8 men, some of whom or all played for team Canada. Has there been any clarification of the role those involved played? We know of John Doe 1 but did the all of the others participate in the sexual abuse? Maybe I missed some more recent reports, but I haven’t seen much clarification following the initial reporting. There’s been plenty of contradicting speculation from non-reputable sources along the way but not many answers from reputable ones. In one form or another there will be answers. I don’t see the need to have answers with so little information.

Why would there be fear of a lawsuit if what was being reported was factual? That's not to say the alleged incident didn't occur, I 100% believe it did, I've just seen too many reaching conclusions when there hasn't been enough information. It's why I intervened in the conversation, the conclusion that "Alex Formenton is almost assuredly John Doe 1" was based on nothing.
At some point you only had 7 that had not denied involvement or made any comments… it may have changed since… I never say he was John Doe 1 but I just think it is fairly easy assume that he is one player involved… unofficial we I think everyone knows who is involved, I think we can deduct who it was with the info that is already out there. But the victim did settle so she most have sign a NDA and other stuff so this will linger for years.

Why did Dorion deny that Formenton going unsigned has anything to do with the Hockey Canada scandal? It obvious to literally everybody, I mean Formenton's career is pretty much over unless he goes to Russia.

Batherson's agent made a statement without saying who his client was, probably because him and Formenton share the same agent, if he attached Bath's name it would pretty much point the finger at Forms.

I'm positive he's the guy that was invited to the suite for a pizza party, and left 10 minutes later because he was uncomfortable. He was interviewed by police the next day as a witness, told them what he saw, that he couldn't tell if it was consensual or not, and isn't in trouble in any way. He's probably looking forward to the results of the investigation to have his name cleared. If somehow I'm mistaken and he was involved, I'd want him immediately cut from my team.

This was all over Reddit and twitter in the summer and fall.

Reading between the lines, there are 5 Team Canada players (who can be identified), and 3 London players (no idea who). I obviously won't name them. 4 of them are playing in the NHL right now.
