I'm not making any judgements on what did or didn't occur in that hotel room. If I were to state my opinion, I would absolutely lean towards saying that what's alleged to have occured actually did occur. It's far more likely that an accuser is telling the truth vs lying.
With that said, I don't know with certainty what happened nor have I heard any of the interviews or read any of the texts. But I trust that the LPD will make the right decision on whether or not to prosecute. There are so many eyeballs on this that I would imagine they are exploring every possible avenue they can. While he initial investigation may have been lacking, this one certainly isn't.
If the police establish that a crime was committed, the players should absolutely be suspended pending the trial. And if they are convicted, playing in the NHL again will not even be a question. But if police cannot establish that a crime was committed, I don't think the players should be suspended.
Does that mean there's a chance that the players do not get punished for a heinous act? Yes, and I acknowledge that.
