Is a better choice for 13th forward than either Hudon or Weise next year. Both of the latter two should be let go.

Brings some size and physicality. Doesn't look out of place as a part-timer.

I like his compete level but he is a little too slow for me. He just seems to be a step late on the forecheck......seems like a good guy but really belongs in the AHL.

I mean he is not horrible but I am not as impressed as some seem to be. Other options would be as good.

I guess people are impressed because he's a career AHLer/feels good story for a Quebec (local) player? First NHL games are in playoffs and as a 12th seed - How cool would it be for him if during his only NHL stint he manages to win a playoff series?

What I enjoy about him is his compete level, he really works hard every shift and plays like he might be left out every game. Imo he's more noticeable than guys like Weise or Weal in that regard. But we have to keep in mind that the "NHL high" will eventually wear off and that he might not see much more NHL ice than he is seeing right now.

Idk, our 4th line is filled with AHLers anyway, I rather it's filled with a guy who's playing for survival

I would expect him to be in Laval next year, but could get a few call ups here and there when injuries hit

I've always liked his nose for the net and wouldn't mind seeing him tried with better line mates. We need scoring and this is something he's been able to do on the farm.

I think he's a better option than weal, Weise, and Hudon right now.

Weal and Hudon are useless when they aren't generating any chances. Weise hasn't been able to perform well at any aspect of the game.

Belzile has shown a knack for closing in on the forcheck quickly, and he seems okay enough without the puck that you don't get the feeling he is a liability.

Great story but I’d rather see Poehling. As for next year I’d rather he be depth in the AHL and we bring in a more physical tougher spare forward

I'm sorry guys but I really don't get the love. He does seem to be trying and is close on the forecheck but it just seems to me that he skates to where he's supposed to be and it's like he forgets he's holding a stick in his hand and never uses it. He checks and forechecks but never creates a turnover.

Not sure what some of you guys are watching. He's one of our most determined player on the forecheck, even if he's not the fastest guy. He's very reliable defensively, made numerous interception and is good along the boards, even better than some of our regulars. He's had few chances offensively, but that's not his role right now.

Honestly, I'm sure Julien and Muller sees what I see. When was the last time you've seen either Weal or Hudon intercepting a pass or being good along the boards?

He's here to stay if he continues to play like that.

He shouldn't be considered an NHL player, but I cheer for him as he's a great story. Glad we'll have him in Laval next year.

God I hope not, that just shows the state of the Habs if this guy becomes an NHL regular.

Definitely not an NHL but he's giving it his all right now so good for him. Poehling I think should draw in, but Belzile could be much worse. He's just a non-factor.

“Le Canadien c'est eux qui m'ont donner un contrat de la ligue nationale. Je me sens en confiance. Les entraineurs m'aiment, ils aiment ma présence hors et sur la glace et l'énergie que j'ammène à l'équipe. Honnêtement, je ne changerai pas ma place et je ne changerai d'équipe au contraire ça été une priorité de resigner tout de suite et le plus vite possible avec le Canadien. Pour l'instant, c'est sûr qu'il n'y a pas d'ouverture ailleurs.”

Alex turns 29 this Monday (Aug. 31st). There is no need for a career minor leaguer on the Canadiens' roster. That would almost remind me of the Houle era.

We all know Belzile was on the team because of the moves made on/by the trade deadline. His Quebec roots helped too. Don't want him, Weise, Hudon nor Ouellet returning.

One guy the Habs should target for 3rd/4th line duty. Not known to be overly physical. But, has decent size, hands and skating. Josh Leivo of the Canucks. Doesn't play scared. He's a pending UFA. Was hurt for a portion of this season. Should be affordable in that role.

Leivo is a poor skater and doesn't play a 200 foot game......big no for me
