I’m still in the belief that the reason we are so bad is half AV’s fault. Sure we have some roster flaws, an aging goalie, and too many middle of the road pieces and no stars but he does nothing to get the most out of his team. That falls on the coach to make adjustments to play within your rosters strength.

Yeah..It only took him 11 games to figure out that he needed to roll 4 lines..

Which is something he has learned like 5 times since being with the Rangers.

I am not a big AV fan, but also not a huge fan of this overall roster as constructed.

I can make a list of do not likes concerning both but yeah I'd rather see a coaching change first if it comes down to it than a big roster change first.

The personnel problems are not on AV.

But the personnel usage problems are on AV.

It really is as simple as that.

One reason why I think AV is still around is that the front office is well-aware of the personnel problems and, to some extent, those problems are by design. Brassard for younger guy plus pick. Stepan and Raanta for prospect plus pick. $2.5 million in cap space. This is more a rebuild than a retool on the fly.

And no sport journalists ask about Nash TOI concerning production, what are they doing?? They are not doing their jobs properly and so much policy in MSG Networks, most beat writers who live in New York seems clueless.. Maybe with one exception in Larry Brooks who question part of coaching staff and part of management decision making.

The team gave him the broadway hat because he played 1000 games.

:help:

He has 1 point in 11 games, we are one of the worst teams in the standings and we are rewarding one of the main reasons we are playing so poorly. I think thats sending the wrong message.

It's a hat.... in this case one being used to recognise an achievement... I'm pretty confident in my assessment that if the players were polled on whether giving the hat to Rick after the Votes game 'showed the wrong message' they would all say 'no' without a moments hesitation.

The broadway hat is usually used to praise good play, I can't remember the last time a player got it only because they played 1000 games.

Its not the biggest deal, but its one of these little things that show there is way too much coddling of Nash. Compare the reaction to Nash to what it is for Staal (when he's struggling, not recently) and what it was for Girardi. It was way worse for those two. Nash gets off easy for his poor play.

Well yeah, but the last two players to play their 1000th game as a Ranger were Jagr pre-lockout and Theo Fleury; and the hat wasn't around back then...

It`s a great achievement - not many play 1000 NHL games, but for Nash it could not come on a more difficult time though for him.

The Broadway Hat used to only come out after a win. Just goes to show you how bad the standards dropped so quickly.

On another note, given how long this thread has gotten so quickly... I think we should start placing bets as to when AV gets fired.

My gut says between the First week of Dec and Late Jan... next few games should tidy up that window... but when do you all think it will happen?

I'm going to go with whatever you say @Mikos87 .... I figure this guy gets 3 add'l games for every win he gets.... Of he goes on another 3-5 game losing streak he's fired.

No doubt!

I'm not sure if he's the first coach to go. But around New Years... that's a good time I'd say.

Ruff is not much of an improvement... let him tank this year, Rangers sell off as much as possible and re-fill hard from the TDL through free agency.

Don't worry I still dislike Nash. Still haven't forgiven him for his 3 goals in 25 games on our cup run.

The franchise has turned into a country club again, for aging formerly good players to retire. Having AV as the coach is perfect, he will never be on any veteran, no matter how bad they play. The youngsters, on the other hand... one bad shift or play and they're benched.

Either the idiotic man to man defense or Vigneault has to go. Preferably both. No other coach is stupid enough to voluntarily play a man to man defense. It's the same old song.

You guys are being really petty about the Nash/Broadway hat thing. Come on. The NHL has been around for a hundred years and only ~300 players have played in a thousand games. Of course he's getting the hat.

With all of the horrendous play and coaching this year, this is the last thing we should be worrying about in an AV thread when the hat is given out by the PLAYERS, not the coach.
