I have to disagree with one point and that's de Blasio. It's much more embarrassing for New York that they elected a mayor who's a fan of the rival team.

I should add that i have every expectation that Cole is gonna dominate them tonight. All I ask is don't get your ass kicked. Compete, fight and keep it close. Give yourself a shot. Get your ass kicked in the first few innings? I will feel a bit differently.
Cole has been pretty mediocre since the end of June. ERA in the 4s WHIP close to 1.3, average, slugging and ops against all jumped significantly.

Obviously has the ability and stuff to pitch lights out, but he's not pitching like the pitcher he's been for the better part of his career.

Maybe this lineup has also been silent a lot down the stretch

In this era, Sox fans will be singing Sweet Caroline with him with the Yanks up 10-1.
They need to play that only tied or ahead or maybe down by a run - but after that play Beyoncé or Andy Williams doing Moon River or something else

This is my mindset. I hope it's theirs too. Strike first, fast, and often. I wanna see determination. Heart. Focus. I want running full speed on the bases. I want good baserunning. Good at bats. Work the damn count. I want them to be ALL IN from the moment you take the mound. Cora needs to be on his shit. No mistakes.

Win and get in. That's the only choice here. Faaaaack the Yankeees, their fans, and that city. This is OUR city. The Sox cannot allow themselves to lose this.

Win and get in.

LETS GO RED SOX, LETS GO! Believe.

A win makes this season a victory no matter what

a loss hurts but wouldn’t be entirely unexpected given the volatile nature of this team and this bullpen. I do like the lineup though

Schwarber DH
Hernandez 8
Devers 5
X 6
Verdugo 7
Renfroe 9
Plawecki 2
Dalbec 3
Arroyo 4

this is their best defensive lineup and they should hit enough IMO

The bats fell asleep in the last series, but they were also up going into the 8th inning in 2 of the 3 games. Both games were lost largely because their relievers, specifically Houck and Richards, couldn't throw strikes. They were in that position in the first place because their two best relievers were both injured (Whitlock and Taylor).

Who knows what to expect from the bullpen tonight, but we're most likely going to see a strategy closer to Sunday than any other game this year.

I like Schwarber leading off - separates the lefties so Boone can't bring Chapman on to get Schwarber and Devers back to back in the 8th or something like that.

Plawecki over Vazquez is the right decision but must've been a hard one for Cora to make due to Vazquez's status as a veteran leader.

Bench seems a little light without JD, but I could see Travis Shaw being called upon to hit in a tight spot. I love having Duran on the bench to run or play defense.

I like our chances. Want to win of course but this season is house money, I don't think I'll even be all that devastated if they lose, which is absurd to think.

Holy moly. Where did you get that picture? I was about 50 ft to the right in this picture at this game. Was the last game my dad took all of us to Fenway. My dad bought seats for last game of the season months before, so when it was announced in the 7th inning that tickets would go on sale for the next day, my two older brothers ran down and bought a few. It’s like literally the only day my parents ever let me skip school for something frivolous

my job just assigned me 3 leads an hour 15 from my house with the last one at 730. ITS 230 IN THE MORNING WHY KILL ME NOW AND ITS RED SOX-YANKEES, WHAT LUNATIC IS LOOKING INTO SOLAR PANELS AT 8 ON A TUESDAY????

I have a friend in Halifax that just had a guy stop by the other day, he was semi interested. Are you at all in that area? I can put you in touch with him if he's still wanting info perhaps?

I also told him that if he chooses to go with the first pitch he received the other day, to ask for a sizable check in his name on top of not paying a cent for the panels.

So after we definitely beat the Yankees, what's our rotation for Tampa? If it starts on Friday you can get Sale on full rest I believe. Sale-Eddie-Evo-Pivetta?

Nah, bring in Mike Torrez for the first pitch. The Ying and the Yang, so to speak.

Screw Mike Torrez though. It's one thing if you just give up a hit in a bad loss or are a bust of a free agent contract, but to give up the Dent HR, underperform his big contract, and kinda be an asshole about everything the whole time is another story (he also burned his bridges with the Yanks where he could've been remembered for a good 1977 Series by badmouthing them all in the papers after he signed in Boston). He wound up with the Mets and after retiring he was apparently giving Ron Darling scouting reports on Sox hitters during the 1986 World Series. His being unloved in Boston is well deserved.
