Chicago split with Manitoba this past weekend, got 3 points.

Game 1
5-1 Wolves win. Lyon in net 25 of 26.
Drury potted 2.
they have a video of the 2nd one. Its a nice toe drag to get around the defender and then a quick wrister top shelf
Wolves whoosh by Moose

Game 2:
Wolves scored 3 goals on their first 5 shots which Manitoba put in a new goalie. Defense hung Lafontaine out to dry on the 1st goal, allowing a 2-0 breakaway. Manitoba scored 2 in the 2nd to tie it at 3.
Leivo scored in the OT but was called back for goalie interference by Poturalski. Although it looks like the defender gave Pots a lot of help. The defender trying to force Pots to the outside, causes him to lose his balance and go into the net. Pots’ rebound pops out to a charging Leivo who shoots and scores. Wolves lost the shootout.
Drury had an assist.

wolves gained 1 point on 2nd place Manitoba over the weekend.

Some good nuggets in here
Marching toward excellence - Chicago Wolves

Allowed the least amount of goals per game, 2.58, while having to use the record for different number of goalies, 8.

Leads the league in PP chances and 3rd in PP goals

their PK has killed off 94.6% of penalties since January 9th. They have climbed from 24th to 2nd in the league in PK percentage during that time.

team sounds pretty familiar, minus the having the most PP chances thing.

Anyone who follows the Wolves closer have an idea of what the plan appears to be in net? Is Koch just going to be in a 3 man rotation and barely play? I guess it's better than him not playing at all in Russia as was expected (although now with the war and Jokerit out he could've played in KHL playoffs in hindsight...), but still not really ideal. I'd much rather we give him some games in the NHL and have him on the taxi squad to practice with the big boys.

Chicago is very tight lipped about their plans. I think we'll see a 3 man rotation. When Makiniemi gets back, who knows what will happen.

forgot about him, what's his timeline? His return would make it make even more sense to bring Pyotr up to the taxi squad and give him a taste of the big leagues in practice and a few spot starts.

Didnt they get rid of the taxi squad? Much like Suzuki, we know very little about Makiniemi. If Makiniemi comes back soon, then we may see Lafontaine thrown in a trade.

There wasn't one to start the year but they brought it back in December due to all the covid postponements and impacts on the schedule and I believe it's here to stay for the rest of this season at least.

I thought they ended it after the all star breaks with the new protocols? Or were going to. Not sure if that was ever official, but I remember hearing that was the plan.
