Post-Game Talk: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Leafs up 2-0! Win 4-3 Game 2

Another win, that’s all you can ask for. Woll was good enough, had some great saves. Some good play throughout the lineup. Now go get game three in Florida.

Woll got better as the game went on. Think he’s dialling into the series now and will be cool calm and collected on the road. Keep banking those wins and buy time to see if Stolie can get healthy.

Good for the Leafs and city of Toronto! If Florida still had their old, amazing, logo, I would root for them in this series - but alas…

(Tonight against Florida our team won game 2, 4-3 to take a 2-0 series lead for the second straight time in the same playoff year. I think it’s the first time in modern Leafs playoff history -since the 1967 expansion-that TOR takes a 2-0 lead in two consecutive playoff series in the same year.)

Total of 27 playoff series in which the Leafs took a 2-0 series lead. They won 24 of them. They only lost 3 of these series. Hopefully we win against Florida this week and add another series win on this list.

I remember that series against Detroit like it was yesterday. Hopefully this series will have a happier ending for us.

Me too, I was a teenager and went to Game 6, really thought we were gonna win the series that night. The Gardens was rocking, the crowd was crazy loud. Back then I hated Detroit as much or even more than the Habs.

Up yours Florida.

I despise that team and all their recent success. Bobrovsky is playing like crap and the rest of them not much better. For once the Leafs have the superior goaltending and the results show it.

To be honest a single second round win in ten years isn't really a massive achievement worthy of high praise.

This should be a bi-annual occurence for this core. But given all the failed expectations preceding this accomplishment it's hard not to get excited. I just hope the team takes it in stride.

Premature celebration is embarassing.

Like the last time when they beat Tampa. They broke out the beers and carried on like they just won the cup. Then proceeded to play like they were hungover and got humiliated the very next round.

I'd prefer they wait until they actually won the Stanley Cup this time before holding another victory party in the dressing room.

They did the right things. They were firm with them and answered back by letting them have it both in goal scoring and physically.

Overall I am impressed with what this group is doing in the absence of Matthews goal production. Too early to get excited but we are on the right path.

How, exactly, should it be a bi-annual occurrence when there is only one playoffs per year?

It's not too early to get excited. Now it's just a matter of which team they are going to play in the conference final.

Quick Hits:

1) Power on the board and that's a big deal, even if it ain't pretty breaking the goose egg against them is good.

2) We weathered the early deficit, the super early second period goal, and took the lead back 17 seconds after they tied it. We've got some serious push back and we don't look scared/panicked/concerned when they score.

3) Woll was good and seemingly got better as the game went on, great sign.

4) The top line is absolutely crazy right now. That's what, 8 for and 1 against at 5 on 5 now? Two GWG in two huge wins against Florida. These guys are dominating ES play.

5) We are playing right on the edge physically. Like we're willing to push the envelope with the refs in the right way and it's working so far.

6) There's a bit of an eff you guys, we are not the same team as 2023 look from us... and Florida looks like they feel that. I love it.

7) 2-0 going to Florida? You can't ask for more. Focus on getting one there. Gonna be real tough, but coming home up 3-1 would be massive. This team looks up for it.

Who would have thought the Leafs would win 6 playoff games without much contribution from Matthews.

Since they’ve already had a successful season and have literally zero pressure on this them, they can just go play and whatever happens, happens.
