Post-Game Talk: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Leafs up 2-0! Win 4-3 Game 2

Yup! And loving it.

Funny thing is, the last time the Leafs were up 2-0 in a series (1987), I would have been watching just like I am now... that is almost 30 years ago. It's been a ride!

Edit: Almost 40 years... mother of Jesus!
I think its the 4-0 sweep of the Sens back in 2001.

Other then being up 2-0 You know what the best part about this win is?

You bought Stolarz time.

Any game that Woll can win buys Stolarz more time to get healthy.
Woll is more than just some stopgap measure to buy time until someone else can take over. He's a very good goalie who had a good season as part of a high quality tandem and put up a .964 SV% in last years playoffs and. He's an important part of this team and if he keeps playing well, there's zero reason to think he'll be pulled out even when Stolarz is 100% healthy.

That ladies and gentlemen was a quality performance

We had every reason to lose this game
Our starter was knocked out, our guys could be forgiven for wanting some retribution and that muddying up there thinking process, Florida were desperate already being down in the series

Yet we found a way to win

Woll really stood up and was the better goaltender, speaks volumes for the guys mental toughness
Our stars and our depth chipped in when we need a goal and we defended that one goal lead for well over 10 minutes at the end of the game, we don't do that before this season

**** this feels good, let's get greedy and get the next one to

I was supposed to say, SECOND ROUND series... I was too excited when typing to include the important details I guess.
Haha, I know that feeling. It's been a while but ... I know that feeling.

Yeah I was thinking before the game that we haven't really faced much adversity this season, but after what happened to Stolarz last game, this is some adversity we're facing now, let's see how they deal with it.

They dealt with it just fine and it does feel good, doesn't it! On to the next one, HANTA YO!

GLG!!

That embellishment call will go down in the books as one of my favorites.
I said the moment they called that I didn't get why they didn't give Schmidt a penalty for the after-the-whistle bullshit instead; it would make more sense. But when you see the replay and realize Rodrigues saw Laughton coming and put his arm against the boards to avoid the damage, you realize it was definitely a major embellishment.

(Tonight against Florida our team won game 2, 4-3 to take a 2-0 series lead for the second straight time in the same playoff year. I think it’s the first time in modern Leafs playoff history -since the 1967 expansion-that TOR takes a 2-0 lead in two consecutive playoff series in the same year.)

He is a good goalie, I still want Stolarz healthy.

I don’t agree. Holmberg Is wrecking ball out there, engaged in play, going to dirty areas, breaking plays on defence and bringing big energy every damn shift. He couldn’t be more different than Kerfoot.
They're both third line energy players who can move up in a pinch, but don't provide a ton of offense. Holmberg is definitely more physical, though.

Lotty didn't really hit him that hard, he was pulling up. I don't know what the embellishment factor was, but he sold it pretty hard - he got hit on the back and then smashed his face into the glass.

The whole thing was pretty entertaining either way.

It was embellishment because Rodrigues saw Laughton coming and turned his back to him, then put his arms up against the glass and rested his head against it, so though he would get his face smashed into the glass, it wouldn't be with as much force as a true "hit from behind". Then he flung himself backwards away from the glass like someone just shoved him from the stands.

Personally, if anyone deserved two for embellishment, it was Marchand for that utterly ridiculous midair twirl on the McMann penalty. That was the exact move stuntmen use to make falls look more dangerous than they are.

I'm good with that.

I think McMann got a little bit of Marchy on that one though.
