God Damn Berube has these boys DIALED
Because votes for coach of the year are due the final day of the regular season.
Even if you wanted to secretly consider playoff performance it's impossible. The Leafs won the division yes, but with only 6 more points than last year
That's why I said 'pretty much invisible'. Yes, he scored the game winner, but did little else before that. And his goal was as much a surprise to him as everyone else.
M&M are paid to be superstars, but never play like superstars in the playoffs. One game winning goal (the first third period go ahead playoff goal of his career, ffs!) and a couple of good minutes of defensive play does not erase the f*** all else he has done.
I used to love the kid and hoped he would be our next Gilmour, now I just want him gone.
I give Berube credit, he preaches stick to the process, you can see a different calmness when adversity comes. He's been there, they're buying in completely. Not even bounce back. We are playing the same way no matter what score is. We just install our pace and rules for the game as a boss! We just know that game is never out of reach and our offence eventually comes through so no need to panic.
Or Boston in GM7...We're beating Tampa in round two!!

Officially the most successful Leafs team since 2004. 6 wins in the playoffs.
I remember that series against Detroit like it was yesterday. Hopefully this series will have a happier ending for us.Yup! And loving it.
Funny thing is, the last time the Leafs were up 2-0 in a series (1987), I would have been watching just like I am now... that is almost 30 years ago. It's been a ride!
Edit: Almost 40 years... mother of Jesus!
