I hope you are all correct and that we are the first team in the history of the league where all of our prospects are NHL players. I really do.

personally I’m banking on Byfield, Turcotte, Kaliyev, and Clarke. Anything else is gravy. The rest of your life… gravy.

This, plus Vilardi and JAD becoming real impact players, is my real hope as well.

If we hit on 40% of our prospects becoming NHL regulars I would consider it an incredible win.

Some of you are really high on Grans. He really belongs in the "yet to be determined" category of the prospect pool. I'd like to see him be able to play defense, since he's a defenseman and all. He's the prospect I'm least confident about right now. Hopefully he has a good season and eases some of the concerns about his overall game.

When making top 10-20 lists, don't get too caught up in draft position. It's a results orientated business.

I'm with you not big on Grans as most are but hopefully he'll continue to develop. Kid is still young and will have time to improve but I feel he's a long ways away. Hoping at least he makes the Swedish WJ team would be nice to see how he does with players his own age.

He's expected to be the top-pairing RHD for Sweden's WJC team, so hopefully that's the case. I agree that he's still a giant question mark.

That's really good to know, hoping to see what he can do with players his age. Another World Juniors I'm excited about. We may have up to 7 or 8 players representing.

Yep. Not sure if Byfield is going this year. From our 2020 draft picks, Grans, Faber, Simontaival, Markkanen, Chromiak, and Jamsen will likely make their teams (sounds like only Laferriere and Meehan won't be joining USA), while our 2021 draft picks, Clarke and Helenius, are likely to make their respective teams. Not sure on Pinelli or Kirsanov, though Kirsanov was in camp for Russia's World Championship team, so I have a good feeling he'll make their WJC team.

My bests guesses are:

Canada: Clarke
USA: Faber
Sweden: Grans, Helenius
Finland: Simontaival, Jamsen, Markkanen
Slovakia: Chromiak
Russia: Kirsanov

Byfield and Pinelli would potenitally make 11, though they're both probably unlikely for different reasons. My guess is nine at next year's WJC.

That is insane 3 straight years of having what 8/9 players in the WJr's if I'm not mistaking. Now lets hope they all hit their potential. Dayum.

For what it's worth re: grans the Swedes were pissed and boggled that he was left off the team last year AND he's playing vs. men so take it all with a grain of salt.

Right, but he also moved down the depth chart after Malmo acquired former Kings pick Patrik Hersley.

If he's not playing, and he was converted from being a forward, he's going to continue to struggle - no matter how talented.

It's not a statement of how good or bad Grans is. He's still raw. Hopefully the Kings will bring him to Ontario this season.

I totally agree. Just providing some color since it wasn't ability that left him off the junior team, they were legitimately calling it a snub, especially as Grans was unlike everything else they had (15 shades of Toby Bjornfot).

He's not a transcendent talent and thus has the same issues that, say, Dergachyov has getting playing time in a men's league, they don't care to 'develop' him.

I believe Grans have signed entry level contract with Kings about month ago (on June 4).

awesome thing is, it doesn't matter much about Grans. In the past, we desperately needed him to succed. Many teams are that way. But with all the prospects we have, and it's crazy how much, a guy like Grans can bust and it's no big deal.
If he hits (or even simply becomes a decent NHLer) though, then it's like being stinking rich and taking a champagne bath...or Warren Buffett having a good day on the stock market.
Like cool, whatever ;)
