After Ovi, who needs the Cup the most to cement their status?

Erik Karlsson. 2 Norris trophies without the Cup.
Sergei Bobrovsky. 2 Vezinas without the Cup. Damn, he hasn't won even a playoffs series yet.

Karlsson carried the Sens against the eventual cup winners but he still has time. It would be a shame if he doesn't win 1

Bobrovsky has only let the Blue Jackets down, impressive resume but deserved

Thornton is the only one who seems have their perception dragged down as much as ovi did by not winning it (and even that has seemed to subside somewhat since they made the finals in 16).

Kinda depends on what "cementing status" means in this case.

Thornton or Marleau could win it but they're not the leaders of the team. Does it matter as much then?

Ovie wasn't exactly as important as he maybe was before in his career but still won the Conn Smythe (deserved or not).

So I think being an important player (top5) and winning the Cup is what actually matters.

He wasn't? He led the playoffs in goals and was over a PPG

Henrik. He has won all the other “majors” I believe. Too bad it’s very unlikely he gets a cup. Won’t get traded and the Rangers probably aren’t winning him one. Not that the Rangers can’t improve greatly in the next two or three seasons. But just, it’s way against the odds.

I'd like to see Lundqvist win a Cup.
If he comes to reality and gets his heart away from New York City, wanting to play for another team that needs a goalie to put them over the top in the playoffs, then maybe he has a chance. Unfortunately there is no stacked Red Wings type of team that Lundqvist could be traded to. Maybe the Pens, Sharks(I don't thing Jones is good enough to help the Sharks win a Cup) or Blues, but that is about it.

You need more than just win a cup to cement your status, you need to be a main asset on the team probably that probably too late for Thornton, passenger on a cup team does not do much.

I disagree. Thornton has done so much for that organization, and shown a lot of determination playing with brutal injuries so that he can get a few more shots at the cup. If the Sharks win it this year, it counts among his major career accomplishments. He was the backbone of the organization and is still a valuable player for them, he would deserve a lot of credit if San Jose won it all. Not just for his still solid production, but for where he's taken that franchise over the last decade+.

I’ll go with Thornton. If he wins one, maybe Burns will shave that ratty a$$ beard.

Henrik should probably retire soon.

Stamkos would get hurt just before the throphy presentation.

def not lundqvist his legacy is cemented regardless if he wins a cup. for better or worse. hes not going to enter the realm of top 10 goat if he wins a cup. unless he wins this years vezina and smythe.

question wasnt who needs to win a cup to make you feel happy.
