I'm only waiting for July 1st, changes will be.
what do you think is going to happen July 1st
I'm only waiting for July 1st, changes will be.
interesting, I too am looking at a Stanley Cup team. But I'm not expecting this team on June 19th 2015 to be playing June 15th 2016.
I want to see what Joe Morrow is. Maybe you were one of the many who wanted to deal Brad Marchand before he ever got a chance for Chris Drury who would go on to score 1 more NHL goal. I'm about giving our prospects chances and seeing what they have.
Am I sold on Morrow? no- but I wasn't sold on Marchand and I probably saw him play 15-20 times in Providence live counting playoff games in 2009-2010.
I like our top 9 a lot
I am cautiously optimistic Seidenberg with his super team friendly $4 M hit comes back and plays well.
I believe in patience and going by track records with these guys that other than Chara I don't consider old

July 1st is Bruins Country Dougie Hamilton Day.
If he is not on contract, he's an RFA.
Queue evil hand wringing of Chia and an offer sheet of 7.1![]()

The BRuins finished with the 8th best goals against average in the NHL last year and if they had given up 5 less goals they would have finished the season with the 3rd best GAA In the NHL
And they did all this without a #2 Dman in Boychuk a hurt Chara and a rusty SEidenberg coming off an ACL and no backup goalie
This teams D core doesn't suck like some people make it out they were a top 10 defensive team last year
If the Bruins don't bring back
Campbell
Paille
Bart
Soderberg
And replace them from day 1 with
Spooner
Pastrnak
Joonas Kemppainen
Joe Morrow/Chernidov
They got
Faster
Younger
Cheaper
(More) skilled
Turned over 20% of lineup
That is pretty significant in my view
Good point, and at 20% turnover of personnel, I think that`s enough at one time. While I think the change I suspect is coming will be good, I think it needs to be a methodical change, we`ve seen what happens when a lineup is altered too much
It is going to be interesting and has the possibility of being a really fun year or a year where we as fans will have to be exceptionally patient (yeah, good luck with that) because while I`m excited to possibly watch a younger/faster/skilled lineup, I also need to temper my expectations for with that youth, comes mistakes, let`s hope not too many but there will be some

Has McQuaid ever played a full season?
i assume, because you're an objective and fair person, that you also tested in the other direction?
ie. had the bruins given up x more goals, they would have dropped to yth place.
i mean at least a comparable example. say x = 5. it might strengthen your point. course it might not.
the Bruins defense last year was brutal. really, really bad. stats that say otherwise are bad or poorly interpreted stats. chara is getting worse fast. seidenberg is essentially done. a d-corp full of young, wiry defensemen simply will not succeed under Claude Julien.
they're in real trouble. they're just not strong enough on the backend. i think this is essentially a bridge year and then the new coach and system will be introduced. hope claude gets the b's coaching wins record in the meantime. will wish him well as he heads off to Carolina to revitalize that franchise.
In my dream world McQuaid loves Boston and signs 1 year at a time 'cheap' until the salary cap increases.
A defensive #6 defenseman would never do that, especially one who could become irrelevant after one bad fight or hit.
or one who`s ability to stay healthy is a question mark
Said it in another post and I`ll say it again, I can`t be convinced that a loss of Quaider has anywhere near the drastic affect on this team as many others do
Love his bite/nastiness, appreciate all he has done for the team, but I`ve never been as in love with him as others and for a game that is quicker every year, I see him being a guy who gets left behind soon. Z is slow, but that big body and reach allow him to make plays most others can`t
If the Bruins still had Boychuck I would agree wholeheartedly.. I think his absence might be felt next year on a D that looked bad for most of the year.
To me the only thing that absolutely must happen is Kelly must go. Even if it takes a buy out he must not be on this roster in October, everything else can work. And that's not to knock the guy , I truly feel there are teams that can use him even at that cap hit, but it's not the Boston Bruins.
I can't watch another Bruins game with Kelly in the lineup
Adam McQuaid is critical to this team's identity.
