Value of: Adam Gaudette

I'll guess 1 year at 2 mil, or 2 years at 3.5mil (1.75mil av).

He scored 19 goals, but I dunno, he has had good seasons followed by let down seasons in the past. I don't think he's done enough to cement himself.

Ultimate tweener who will look to parlay a 21.1 S% in 10 minutes of ice per night into a decently substantial 7-figure contract.

I'd pay attention to his usage (pure bottom rung 4th line) more than his 19 goals and pay him accordingly. He had 6 goals in 46 games in 2025 on a much more normal 14.0 S%.

$2+ million AAV for him is bat-shit crazy. Pretty much anything more than $1 million AAV or 2 years is. I get that contracts are going up but depth forwards will still make near minimum $.

I would imagine a 2 year deal worth $1.5M+/season would get it done from his perspective. I think he’ll take a little bit less for a 2nd year and if things get real crazy I wouldn’t be shocked if he can snag a 3rd year from a desperate young team who need capable NHL bodies as placeholders.

Oddly enough he was fairly solid next to Stutzle and was able to play (for a short while) good 2nd unit PP minutes so he’s versatile enough to move up the lineup if a need arises.

I think he’s a useful depth piece and at $1.5M or less on a 1 or 2 year deal and that he’ll yield better than average returns at that price. I wouldn’t mind him back in Ottawa to be the 12th/13th forward but I think they want someone with a heavier game in that spot and might need to to plug that spot for less than a million and could be priced out depending on the market.

I get he had a bit of an inflated shooting percentage last year, but 19 goals is not nothing.
He's a UFA who hasn't made any real money. If he can either land a big short term deal or get term, that's more than likely what he goes for. But, a team should be careful on expectations for him.

Where did he play in the SENS lineup?

How is his compete and defensive game?Could he handle the responsibilities of a hard matchup line?

Just wondering if he’d be an adequate Appleton replacement on Lowry’s wing. Lowry’s line always goes up against the other team’s top line.

Gaudettes compete is good and his attention to detail defensively is ok, but not good enough to use in match-ups. Moreso that he can play 4C duties and match up against middle/bottom of the lineup players and do ok, which is how he was used in Ottawa. He saw some time on both special teams but I dont think he belongs there in a healthy, competitive lineup.

Gaudette is very slow and EXTREMELY weak, though, so he usually loses puck battles. I would say this is the area where he was probably the worst Sen this year.

I am not sure there is an area where Gaudette can replace Appleton nor do I see any place for him on an NHL 3rd line. He is a 10-12 minute player, tops.
