Player Discussion Adam Fox

Offensive dman who is praised so highly for his offense hasn't scored a goal in 2 consecutive post seasons. Uhm it says something about the player no?

He's not a goal scorer, he's always been much more of playmaker. He has 39 points in 46 career playoff games and that includes this season where he was clearly hobbled. Before this year it was 31 points in 30 games. Plus it's a complete misunderstanding of the player to just call him an "offensive defenseman". He always grades out as elite defensively. He's just good offensively and isn't big so people think he's bad defensively. He's easily our best defensive defenseman. He just doesn't look like Trouba. And even if you want to knock him for it, it doesn't need to be stated every game on every Powerplay. At some point it was a broken record.

Doesn't matter, with how gifted offensively he his and how much PP time he plays, he needs to score some goals. He knows it

Adam Fox finished 4th in the Norris voting.

Shame if he didnt get injured he likely would have been nominated again.
He was nominated, he finished 4th... :naughty:
(sorry, it's just that 'nominated' and 'finalist' are such dumb terms with regard to these awards. Pretty sure the Masterton is the only one a player can be nominated for...)

Top 5 Norris finish in every year except his rookie one is a hell of a career so far. Really need him to be healthy at the pointy end of next season

Another top 5 Norris finish. He has done so every year in which he's played top pair minutes.

Fox is one of the first 6 Americans selected for Team USA at the 4 Nations Cup. Fox, McAvoy, Quinn Hughes, Auston Matthews, Matt Tkachuk, Jack Eichel. Mika was also selected for Sweden.

I'm surprised Josi was so high and Bouchard so low this year.

EDIT: Also Forsling is WAY too low
Reputation award. Bouchard and Forsling will get bigger awareness moving forward after the Cup final.

There's a main board thread asking if Roman Josi is a Hall of Famer. Someone on that thread made the argument that all defensemen with five top five Norris finishes are either in the hall or a lock.

Guess who is one top five finish away from hitting that in their sixth season in the league?

I don't think it's controversial that Fox would be a HoF candidate if he continues to play at the same level he has in the last few seasons deep into his career.

That's a big IF though. He wasn't quite as dynamic last year (due to an injury, but still). He has HoF level talent when healthy thus far.

The interesting thing isn't that it's if he plays at this level deep into his career then he becomes a Hall of Famer. It's that he already basically has a Hall of Fame prime locked up and another decade of being a good NHLer is probably enough to get him a plaque.

He was still fantastic. Especially the second half of the season.

personally I think the Rangers should trade him for depth
That will never happen.
