But giving up a 2nd?????
I mean, obviously Gorts should be executed at center ice for that.
But giving up a 2nd?????
I wish that guy still posted on the NYR board so we could dunk on him and clown him all day.PB (the poster) wanted him to play fewer games last year so we gave up a lower pick.
The outrage about that trade was on parallel with the initial outrage about the Stepan pick.I mean, obviously Gorts should be executed at center ice for that.
Gorton saw what he wanted and moved aggressively.
The kid has to be squarely in the conversation for the Norris right now. Hedman will win it, but getting hard to pretend that Fox does not exist.

NO ONE thought that. Or even close. If they had, he would not have been drafted where he was or traded for 2nd round picks. His game has grown since he has come to the Rangers and grown again since his rookie year. By quite a lot.I don't think anyone would have thought that.
Attributable to Achilles or Galileo?
Clearly the guy that wrote that cannot write. This is beyond the scope of this discussion (read: I'm too dumb to know which).
It's even grown over the course of this season. Fox is still improving every month.NO ONE thought that. Or even close. Nope....not a chance they expected him to be this good ....LOL...but if they did...we can look forward to Laf/Miller/KK blooming at some point .I remember some folks being upset at what we gave up to acquire him. You can absolutely see why the Rangers didn't want to take any chances. Although, I don't know if even they thought he'd be this good (ever, forget about in his second year).
It's not about whether or not he's worth two 2nds, it's that he was going to sign here the next year anyway. And during a rebuild, we need those picks. If staying back the extra year would've hurt his development, of course you burn those picks. But it's not an unreasonable position to take to say that we wasted 2 round picks. He was going to sign with us the following year. And we weren't going to be a good team the year he signed. So it becomes whether or not having him come a year early hurt his development and/or the butterfly effect where perhaps we don't pick Laf et al. It's an entirely fair argument to say we wasted 2 round picks.
but there wasn’t a 5% chance he’d sign elsewhere. there was a 0% chance he signed elsewhere. with that in mind, you absolutely have to take that into accountKnowing what you know now this is an insane take. Even if there's a 5% chance he signed elsewhere it was 100% worth the picks to get the certainty he'll play here. 99.9% of players don't play for their favorite team. It's really not the crazy that he would have signed with someone else.

because he wouldn’t sign with anyone else. we know he’s a ranger fan. he was waiting to become a FA so he could sign with us.How do you know this?
