1. Fox can be dealt now before protection kicks in

2. Should sell high on Fox, but this is not that deal
that should be Fox + max retained Zib + 2 2nds down the road
for
JT Miller + useful small pieces + 2 1sts

3.. Not seeing BOS desire to move McAvoy and have to expect overpay
not sure there is a Rs-Bs currency match to facilitate that
UNLESS
Kreider + larger plus for McA + smaller +

McAvoy is one of very few I'd consider moving Kreider for

McAvoy has way too much value to consider Kreider as the main piece coming the other way. IMO Kreider would be more worth Carlo.

I think we all have too much time on our hands when we're down to commenting about the New York Rangers trading Adam Fox to the Boston Bruins for Charlie McAvoy.

That would be just as ridiculous as . . . oh . . . Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais for Brad Park and Jean Ratelle. Never happens. Just about never happens?

Jones gets basically zero pp time because fox plays typically the first 1:30 of it and then jones comes on for the final 30 seconds and they set up for about 10 seconds of offensive zone time.

Jones hasn't gotten a lot of power play time is true. It's not like he's got none though and Fox clearly has a better idea of how to run a power play which really isn't a slight. Fox is a top 5 NHL power play QB. There are very few that are as good as he is. Thinking Zac could be as good is a real reach. His career arch as a pro in both the NHL and AHL doesn't suggest he would be either.

But back to your trade McAvoy would be much more likely to become the Rangers No 1. power play QB than Jones would.

Not too hard to qb this rangers pp. tony deangelo did it pretty damn well too. Granted hes an insanely gifted offensive dman in his own right.

This move would be to shake up the room and get more physical

Imo McAvoy is better than Fix so the added parts should reflect that.
Fox + Lafreniere for McAvoy + Fredric.
Somebody took the 1 ridiculous vote for McAvoy as 1st quarter Norris leader a little too serious...

As a Sens fan, I would do:

Ottawa:
Fox (9.5M AAV)
Kakko (2.4M AAV)

NYR:
Chabot (8M AAV)
Pinto (3.75M AAV)
Tyler Boucher
2nd Rounder 2025
Thank you so much. But I don't see an actual offer.

Anyway, I can't see them swapping teams as they would most likely want to be playing together. This doesn't seem like the start of what they need to change.

How dare you leave out the man who called himself " the most famous 5th wheel in NHL history " !!!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

why would the Rangers move Fox, barring a massive overpayment?
Probably for the same reasons that the Bruins would not consider moving McAvoy.

Did you even read the message you responded to? Fox forced himself to the Rangers. He literally refused to play for 2 any other team. Why would that be different now?

Need to get heavier? Miller, Trouba, and Schneider are all quite big and physical players already. Their issue is the team can't play defense and relies entirely on Shesterkin to bail them out
K' Andre Miller is a physical player?

If you fought a butterfly with that dudes spine as a weapon, you'd get mauled.

Kreider, Schneider & '25 #1 for McAvoy

.....and again McAvoy like Fox a right hander and making the same cap hit of $9.5 mil would very very likely to become the first unit power play QB if a McAvoy Fox trade happened. He's very much a two way defenseman with very good offensive instincts.
