Big, solid, strong on the puck, and can skate. His upside is however far his Hockey IQ will take him. The play he made to Rempe is exactly the type of play a player who is confident in his abilities and reach to get to the puck. You hope he gets more comfortable pulling off things like that. Guy could become a middle 6 monster that will be tough for opponents to handle.

He plays a very simple game and uses his reach to his advantage. If he can begin to utilize his size, he may untap some higher potential. Also a good skater at 6'7, not a good skater for someone 6'7.

He's been cruising around 11 minutes a night during this winning stretch. Feel like getting him PK reps is a must going forward. That is the first way to expand his role.

I don't know how good he could be, but he's someone worth locking up for 2 years and seeing if he can be more than a good 4th liner.

Only 2 players drafted by Drury have played for the Rangers as of now, for a combined 18 games.

Neither Rempe nor Edström were drafted by Drury.

Not the point that they were drafted by Gorton. The point is drafting big guys as a strategy seems pretty smart. Rempe & Edstrom both NHLers and Roobreck's stock has only gone up since he was drafted.

I'm good with Edstrom if he can continue to take the puck deeper by using his size along the boards to protect it and maybe make a play in lieu of throwing it away and hoping somebody on the right side ...a Ranger gets to it first . I like seeing 4th line guys causing havoc and pinning defender dmen in their D zone....they do that and it will lead to more scoring chances and if nothing else wear down the D . In a perfect scenario...and maybe that comes as he gets more comfortable....he will get more physically involved and that does not mean fighting . Holik was big and a force but never fought .

I’m not sure Edstrom will have to fight too much. He broke a guys forehead open with a punch earlier this year. That word gets around quick.

Really like his game though. He’s a player

It must be so much fun for Carrick playing with these two huge palookas on his line. He's a pretty aggressive forward in his own right but having these two giants who can really skate, like to play physical and head for the net whenever the puck is in the offensive zone which creates a lot of chaos has to make for a fun time. Opposing defenders and goalies have to be thinking WTF! every time they're coming their way.

Can someone let me know how many years Edstrom has until he can be UFA? Is it 3 more years or 2? That will effect the approach to this upcoming off-season where he is due a new contract.
