Look Vic, if you want advice... understand the customer purchase decision.

By the time they get to the cash to give an order, they have already made up their mind.

Asking if they want a muffin at the point of purchase isn’t likely to have a major impact on your sales.

Get someone out in line with them. A sample tray in hand. Influence them before they decide.

Incentives are fine provided everyone has a shot to compete. If someone is making drinks all day, they can’t participate in your program.

That is literally a great idea like a "floater" in the lobby who literally up sells people before they are even having their bearings about themselves, sort of like a muffin whisperer who gets in their heads before their wallets have spoken. this is way better than the idea of only hiring Asian people.

You are over compensating for something....

Hopefully you didn’t get your phone wet on your “yacht”

Now please reply and tell me how much money and success and intelligence you “have” ... it really is fun to read.
Look Jim, we're obviously both a couple of high ranking executives, and reasonable minds can disagree. You seem like a cool guy, so I'd like to invite you and your team out for some drinks (travel expenses on me). I think there's a lot you could learn from me, and who knows, we may even make a deal.

I just wanted to update this thread with a new development as of yesterday as I have hired the first African American barista that my location has ever had since it opened, in honor of the applicant who applied and interviewed with me yesterday for MLK jr. DAY. Kareem is literally a perfect "fit" with 10+ plus years of barista experience, a very out-going and personable personality in regards to taking "ownership" of the customer experience personally, who is also in a rap-folk band which he is the frontman of and has played in numerous coffee shop settings over the last decade. He will add a new dimension of diversity to our team and will likely become a top seller in a few short training sessions as I coach him up on our store culture.

I might have to stop by there and drop a "floater" in your lobby.

When I was 24, I took out a risky $20,000 loan to start my own small business. Fifteen years later, we're one of the largest HVAC operations in Los Angeles County with over 50 employees. Having said that, I've got to disagree with you Pookie.

The biggest tip I give young sales managers can be summarized in one word: COMPETITION. When I make a hire, I look for men of ambition and a killer instinct (I call them bulldogs). And when you've got a gang a bulldogs, they're going to fight tooth and nail to be the alpha. Of course, you reward the top dog with a fresh rawhide. Bottom line, you've got to take their red-blooded energy and put it back into your business. But if you put them in a drum circle, nothing's going to get done and your company doesn't grow. Simple as that.
Bingo. As an employer, I want people who are hungry. I don't care if you graduated magna cum laude from Harvard if you aren't going to roll up your f***ing sleeves and work. I want people with street smarts, and in fact a lot of my best hires were people who I literally pulled off the streets who were starving to death. I can usually get away with paying them $2-3/hour under the table for hard labor, and to me that's just good business.
