I think the Canucks are bringing Raty along nicely. I'm sure he could easily fulfill a fourth line, limited minute role in Vancouver.

But by being on the VanCity-Abbotsford 'shuttle', he's getting big minutes in all situations. And if the rumors mean anything, other NHL teams are calling about him whenever they talk trade with the Canucks.

Just goes to show I guess how much young centers are valued around the league.

Not specifically like this.

There are guys who are skill players who can't translate and produce but still play like (bad) skill players in the NHL. Bains may be like this in the end.

There are guys who are workmanlike north-south players in the AHL and manage to translate it to points in that league who just obviously can't produce in the NHL.

Aman is weird because he shows flashes of actual legitimate skill and creativity in the AHL and then plays pretty much the most boring zero-event, zero-risk, zero-skill hockey you could imagine in the NHL. Based on the way he's looked in the AHL, he looks like he *should* have the talent to be a 25-30 point 3rd line type in the NHL but once actually in the NHL he's shown literally none of that.
Bains shows skill in the AHL and also has good defensive/PK chops in that league. As with Aman, he doesn't show much skill in the NHL because it's a very different standard. They both have to play low-event hockey in the NHL to stick around. I think Bains could fit that low-event style pretty much as well as Aman; he's never really been given the chance as too often he was deployed over his head in the top nine. Karlsson shows good AHL skill but has to be a low-event guy when called up to the NHL. I see nothing from Aman skill-wise that I haven't seen from plenty of farm team players over the past six years.

Could be confidence thing, don’t want to make a mistake and get kicked off the roster so plays super conservatively.

It seems our system very much breeds this, which at least provides some consistency for the poor kids coming up to fill in. We were very lucky to get Manny. Hopefully he's moved to closer than he was...that's a hell of a commute...like double my own.

I'm really interested in hearing more about this Ty Mueller. I thought he looked years ahead of his age playing the exhibitions this year, and he's already doing quite well offensively. I really, really liked his game. Like to the point of I almost don't want to trade this player now.
