I need to keep better eyes on when the games are, I totally missed they were playing today.

The AHL is not a skill league like the SHL or NHL, so he doesnt have the right C to set him up properly. Lekk will always look better in those leagues.

The AHL has a much skill as the SHL, How many AHLers go over there and lead the league in scoring?

Kudryavtsev is the best defenceman of this group.

Should I be worried for Brisebois, missing two games in a row, given his concussion problems last season? He was getting back into form in his most recent few games.


Vincent took a shot at Kudryavtsev after a whistle for no good reason. He seemed to be looking for trouble.

I've been keen on him right from the first preseason game. In the last 10 days he's been the best defenceman except for perhaps Friedman.

He can't just wait for someone to set him up. He needs to get more involved in a variety of ways. His recent games have not been good enough.

Also - weird how McWard is the guy who gets to QB PP1 and with the goalie pulled when the team has Kudryavtsev and Wolanin on the bench.
Doesn't have the puck poise to be that guy and handed SJ a shorthanded 2 on 1 almost leading to a goal against

Was McWard a primary PP specialist/contributer in college? I honestly don't remember his tool bag concentrating on that aspect of his game.

Nucks' mgmt seems to oddly profile college undrafted guys over their picks a lot without any obvious traits fans can use to relate to why they have such high expectations?

Interesting observation. They really do seem have a jones for Americans and college guys for some unknown reason. McWard has clearly inferior offensive skills to Wolanin, Kudryavtsev and Friedman but they just keep throwing him out there. They clearly love him.

Oh absolutely. Lee Marvin especially. But Hackman too. The depression era hobos ridin' the rails movie, The Emperor of the North Pole with Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine and keith Carradine. That one is a real favorite of mine. Of course the French Connection. Goes without saying.

Also The Killers. Lee Marvin, John Cassavetes, Angie Dickinson Ronald Reagan. I love that movie!

The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance. Of course The Dirty Dozen.

Yeah, I’ve relayed the story before but Cam Robinson said that after the Canucks drafted him some teams were shocked he hadn’t been taken far earlier. Apparently he kind of got lost in the shuffle of scouts getting “their guy” on the last couple rounds.

I don’t think ppl understand how big of an adjustment it is from playing on big ice to small ice, not even accounting living in a different country.

Fully expecting Lekk to need like 4 months minimum to adjust

Canucks drop their first game of their SoCal road-swing with a 5-3 loss to San Jose. Basically a one-goal game with an empty netter.

Unfortunately Ty Young looked every bit the goalie just graduating from the WHL, and was pretty shaky throughout. But team battled back from an early hole to tie it early in the third. And the veteran Kambeitz finally awakened from a season-long slumber.

And Pettersson (with his first AHL goal) and Kudryavtsev continue to get it down for Abbotsford. The play of these two 20-year old rearguards has been one of the season highlights so far.

Puck has dropped for the rematch in San Jose. Ahac draws in for Hirose. Woo sits for the second straight night. Ben Berard is making his debut for Abbotsford, taking over from Twarynski who's been rather quiet in recent games-- and Berard made a good backcheck on his very first shift to thwart a potential scoring rush.

Bains took a holding penalty on our old buddy Justin Bailey and San Jose cashed in on the PP. 1-0.

Next shift Abbotsford got outnumbered near the net, the attemped centering pass hits Felton's leg as he tries to block it and goes past Tolopilo. 2-0 San Jose just five minutes into the game.

McWard and Kudryavtsev but the real problem was the forwards.

Aman, all alone in the slot, fanned on a nice pass from Smith. San Jose went up the ice but turned it over at the Abby blue line, Pettersson quickly flipped the puck ahead to Nielsen who went in on a partial breakaway and with one hand on the stick he neatly poked the puck through the goalie's five-hole. Deficit is cut to 2-1 just over a minute into the second period.

Auspicious debut for Ben Berard. Breaks up a play again on the backcheck, joins Stevens for a 2-on-1, nice pass by Stevens and Berard puts the puck into the gaping net from the left edge of the crease and it's 2-2 about 2:30 into the period.
