Forwards, except for Blais, have all been average or worse in this game.

Defencemen not quite as bad, that's about it. Kudryavtsev was playing well but then he put in a really weak effort along the boards to lead to Laval's fifth goal.

Terrible game tonight. I'm tuning out early.

Don't look now, but Abby has dropped six straight.....even the Canucks farm team sucks right now.

I cut the young players some slack. But what's disappointing is all the veteran guys they brought in, lead by Kambeitz, Twarynski, Nate Smith and Blais, and they really aren't doing much.

Even Karlsson, Bains and Klimovich have gone ice-cold. I don't think the team was this bad at any point last season. Shaping up as a tough first season for Malhotra behind the bench.

Yes, I was having a massive brain fart.

Brain was just not braining correctly. I did indeed mean Ian Clark.

Ah I see. You still haven't really answered my question. You said one might expect our goaltending to take a hit when our goalie coach got promoted. My response is that there's no history of this. The example I gave was when Cloutier and Melanson changed roles, Sanford replaced Melanson, Clark was brought in, Torenius was brought in replacing Sanford. Up to this point, the transition (as it applies to our AHL goalies) appears to have been smooth. Certainly there's a change between Cloutier/Clark and Melanson. So why do you expect our goaltending to take a hit when Torenius was promoted?

As for a change in goaltending style affecting our AHL goalies' play with Torenius in charge and Pogge working with our AHL goalies, I'll defer to others who actually know about goaltending. Maybe @mossey3535 can comment? In the past I think Mossey commented that Torenius isn't a big changes kind of guy so I'm interested in what changes have been implemented that have negatively affected the performance of our AHL goalies.

Will Aatu make the NHL roster in the end? How has he looked this far? Is his skating horrible or decent nowadays?

His skating has improved but it's still not great. So far in his time in the NHL he's just barely kept up, hasn't shown enough to make anyone think he deserves a regular spot.

On one hand he's already 22 but on the other hand he's only had about 2 seasons' worth of pro games experience in North America.

I find it difficult to figure out if he'll ever be a solid NHL regular.

EDIT: I've watched almost every game this season and was shocked to look up his stats and see that he's played 20 games in the NHL this year... I would have guessed less than 10.

I predict that he'll make it as an NHLer as a bottom 6 utility winger that takes faceoffs. He's a good enough player for that kind of role, especially if he can incorporate more PK utility to his game.

From reports it seems like he finally figured out how to improve his skating by changing his technique and blades so maybe there is still room for improvement since it takes awhile for the body to get used to the new movements and also build muscles to support that.

This is wonderful news for Hronek and the Canucks.....initial reports were, he'd be out until at least the end of January.

If he's now cleared to play full-contact hockey in the AHL; he must really be close. Nobody is probably more relieved than Quinn Hughes.

If Sami Salo can play AHL games on a stint so can Hronek, Allan. He's such an asshole about it, you can clarify without being a prick.

Someone can correct me if I'm misremembering but this seemed at least somewhat more common 15-20 years ago but isn't really a thing now.

Also, I knew EP2 was having a nice year but didn't think he'd be an all-star. Nice to see.

On EP2 - clearly making the all-star team is great and shows his play has been good. I was wondering if those who have watched him this year have any analysis of his progression and whether is all-star selection is warranted versus others on the team (like KK for example).

Not sure what to make of D-Petey being an AHL all-star. On the downside, it probably means that a lot of Abbotsford Canuck players are in the midst of underwhelming seasons.

On the upside, obviously AHL watchers have been impressed with Pettersson, and the fact that he's still only 20-years old. That's the encouraging thing to me. The room for growth is dramatic with this player.

Tocchet has already been quoted as saying he'd like to Pettersson in a couple of games at the NHL level--to see where he's at. So clearly he was impressed in training camp.

A future shutdown pairing for the Canucks?.....Wilander on the right and D-Petey on the left?
