A valid point.....trying to survive on an AHL salary of $70,000 or so isn't easy or anyone any more on the Lower Mainland. Even a week-long recall can really help the bottom-line for a lot of these young guys.
Most young guys also get spaced year-by-year signing bonuses and earn more than 70k. For example, between his signing bonuses and minor league salary EP2 is making $177.5K US a year for the next two years without a callup plus an $83 per diem whenever the team is on the road, which would amount to about $6-8K.

Bains and Raty back down today.

About to drop the puck for the rematch. 22 games into their season, the Moose have already been outscored by 32 goals. Hopefully they're in for a little more pain today.

Probably two of the easier shutouts Tolopilo has had in his entire career.

But the story of the last couple of games has been the play of the Abby Canucks blueline. Woo and Wolanin in their best stretch of the season.....but the real story is the play of their rookies--Pettersson and Kudryavtsev.

Pettersson is shaping up nicely as a solid shut-down d-man. Big, rangy, skates well, and just levels guys trying to gain the blueliner. And Kudryavtsev looks like he could carry a power play all on his own.

Abbotsford is the midst of a light schedule. The only two games pre-Xmas are next weekend against Tucson at home.

I wonder how long it is before we see PDG come up. Tocchet has said before that he was a good character guy in the room and a respected veteran. If the Canucks are indeed having some locker room issues, I wonder if he would be a good influence in there.

i think he was better last year than heinen or raty have been this year. i think he'll be back once he's played his way into shape in abby

He's not close to Heinen as a player. I like PDG a 4th line energy type player who can fill in up the line-up in a pinch. If Heinen was on a minimum contract do you think he'd clear waivers? Even once?

Probably won't be long, the unfortunate part is that it will likely come at the expense of Sasson...I do like PDG's board work and hustle though.
