Abbotsford Canucks Talk | 2025 Stretch Run

NCAA schedule is light and the expectation is he’ll play at least 82 games in the NHL next season. So he’ll have to get used to a greater workload. Shutting him down on that basis makes no sense IMO. Joining Abby’s playoff run would be invaluable.
Always the argument between practice and games. NCAA may be like 10 games light on games, but CHL, for deep PO runs is too long for teenagers IMO.

I was thinking about going to the game on Saturday. $90 for decent seats, $65 for nosebleeds.

I get that it's playoffs but that seems crazy to me.
If anything, this is a good sign for the health of the team and ownership not cutting funding the next time cash flow gets tighter.

EDIT: Not that it helps those of us who have to consider if a $100 investment into seeing a sporting event fits our budget. I sympathise in that respect.

For sure, bringing a family is like a $300 night without a trip to the concession.

They've increased the price for every round. I'm going to tomorrow's game and the tickets are $36 each but in the non-alcoholic section and fairly "high up". Although referring to anything as nosebleeds in that rink is absurd. It's not a big place.

What do regular season tickets cost?

Between $22-$70 depending on your section. This year we got a 18-game flex pass for $450. Lets me pick and choose which games I want to go and sit within a price range.

Minimum price on Ticketmaster is $65, is that because all lower prices are sold out?

Nosebleeds is the wrong word but I find the higher up in the corners to have quite poor sight lines, which is where the cheapest options are.

Yes. Also, I got a deal as a return ticket holder that lasted until 10am today that kept prices the same as the previous round. When I bought my tickets yesterday, the rink was already very close to selling out of the seats within our price range.

Seriously? Semis go to June 9 if needed? Calder Cup wouldn't start til June 11 or 12. Pushing that to like June 26-28 right now. Wow.....

Same as the NHL, I simply don't understand how these leagues think this is a good idea.

At least with the NHL they're trying to get away from other leagues for TV ratings but that isn't a thing here and everyone just totally loses interest in hockey as the calendar turns over into June.

For the teams that miss the PO, the players have from mid April to Labour Day to train. But, they also take time off to heal from surgery plus go on vacation for a mental break for 4-8 weeks. Plus, they need the time to work on their skillset and upgrade a weakness.

Final 4 teams really are hard pressed to do anymore than just get some rest and heal over the summer. Which is why it is so difficult to repeat. The fact that TB and FLA (likely) will have made 3 straight finals each over the past 6 seasons is very impressive. Edm looking like they will go again is also impressive under these circumstances.

These top teams learn to coast through the regular season, they are good enough to win enough regulat season games at 80% effort. I think thr oilers have got it IMHO, mcdavid hasn't elevating in the playoffs, he's cruising in the regular season.

Once you get a taste of the playoffs and the grind it is, a top player's mindset is to figure out how to conserve energy during the season. Ideally, you have enough talent to secure your spot and not be at risk of missing the PO. Doesn't matter where you finish. Edm, was 3rd in the division, but secure enough to not worry about WC teams in April.
