I think Pettersson should stay in the AHL for the full season-- and I feel quite strongly about that. Puck skills and some of the quick defensive reactions/decisions necessary for NHL duty would be real problems for him right now. He's an okay second-pair AHL defenceman at this early stage, not a first-pair guy. A realistic progression would be to deserve call-ups next season and then hopefully stick in the NHL in the following season.

To be clear (I've said in another thread that I'd rather Pettersson than Juulsen), I'd prefer Pettersson stay in the AHL instead of pressed into NHL action or sitting in a press-box. I'm not opposed to him getting a game or two as the team has said they want to do with young players.

Max McCormick beats Young again, glove side and with a backhander yet again as Young goes 0-2 on the Coachella shots on goal.

2-1 Firebirds against the run of play.

Breezer and Felton have the makings of a very solid pairing on D. Two minutes to go in the first.

Felton plays the right side. He looked good in camp and in exhibition. Why wasn't he in the Abby line-up from puck-drop on opening night, paired with a vet on the left side, getting all the support the organization has to offer from its various D-experts? Why sign the guy otherwise?

Maybe what we heard from Hughes re playing with Hronek was only the tip of the iceberg. Behind doors it was "Don't Cole McWard me again. No more NCAA free agent bullshit. Get that new guy Christian whatever out of my sight and don't let me see him again." Seems like the kind of thing QH would say.

Abbotsford completely dominating, only tied cause Young let in his first 3 shots

Pettersson easily the best d-man on the team and obviously the most pro potential as well. He fell asleep on the 1st goal against leaving his man unmarked for an empty net tap in but other than that he looks REAL good.
No one else really jumping off the page

Btw are AHL streams always 360P? Looking like my Slingbox stream from 20 years ago

The steams are big time improved from what AHLtv had perviously offered. Of course it's something like three times the price to watch lol. The only issue I have had so far are some fairly persistent interruptions in the broadcasts.

BTW you can adjust the resolution in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Felton is signed as organizational depth. Like that centre from Germany a few years ago-- can't remember his name, Marc something-- signed at age 24 out of NCAA, too. Guys who don't turn pro until they're 24 are longshots to become NHLers.

Friedman, Woo and McWard were ahead of him and Kudryavtsev was taking quite a few shifts on the right side, too.

Bottom-six forwards having a good game (second in a row for the fourth line). Top-six forwards, mostly not. Aman and Bains, 100 minutes and counting this weekend of doing little. We saw Good Klimovich last night but today we've been getting his alter ego; he sat out one shift after two lazy plays with the puck seconds apart in his own zone.
