Anyone know why Felton hasn't seen the ice yet? Is he injured...or... Pretty bizarre a guy would look that good in pre-season, compared directly with the guys he's competing for ice time with, and then just be healthy scratched game after game on a team that sucks defensively.
Free Christian Felton!
I have no idea, but I want to see Felton in action Saturday night. It's time for him and it's time for a shake-up on the defense.

Bakersfield wins 3-1. No Lekkerimaki, no Di Giuseppe, no Karlsson, no Blais; Aman and Bains called up. Just too thin on talent at forward tonight. The team effort was actually pretty solid but not enough goals. Tolopilo got it together somewhat after two rugged games but was only average. Felton, if his AHL debut and his Vancouver preseason game are true indicators, should be ahead of Hirose and Ahac in the pecking order. Rematch is 4pm Sunday.

The AHL veterans the Canucks signed during the off-season are really doing nothing so far.

Just too many guys missing. Bains, Aman, Lekkerimaki, Raty, PDG, Blais and Karlsson gone from this lineup leaves it just too thin to compete most nights.

I don't see it getting any better any time soon.

So Bains, Silovs and Aman back down to Abbotsford, and Lekkerimaki and Young on their way up.

Obviously these are 'paper transactions' only. I doubt the players ever pass each other on Highway One between Abbotsford and Vancouver. And that it's all related to cap management.

I guess the only outlier is Lekkerimaki. I don't think they'd recall him unless they intended to play him. Adds an intriguing element to Tuesday's game with the Flames.

Interesting. My take was completely different.

Joshua is on a regular line at practice so presumably they're hoping he can go on Tuesday. Lekkerimaki has a higher cap hit than Bains or Aman so bringing him up to play with Joshua instead of Bains or Aman costs the team money. I see a good chance that Bains and Aman stay down for at least a game.

The Canucks only save the daily rate on $25,000 by bringing up Young in place of Silovs. My guess is that the plan is for Silovs to get a couple of AHL games in. If Demko can't go Tuesday then Young may back up Lankinen, but these moves make me think that the Canucks are expecting Demko is really close to getting into the lineup.

Lekkerimaki is playing on Tuesday. Silovs will be in the line-up and probably play tonight. Young was in Vamcouver at practice. Also, on game AHL game days players have to report to the AHL club.

This leaves the Canucks with 22/23 roster so only one of Bains or Aman could be recalled tomorrow.

So, no, these are not paper transactions at all.

I cannot imagine Young being used as the backup. Silovs will probably be recalled tomorrow; they sent him down to get him action tonight. They would use Tolopilo as a backup ahead of Young, too.

Damnit, I lost the link to where I watch AHL games normally. I remember posting in here once but I can't find that either.

Tocchet said that he thinks Silovs will get called up tomorrow (I suspect it will be Tuesday).

Kudryavtsev scratched for the second time in the last four games.

Why develop? Ahl lifers gotta play. Im surprised EP is playing.

We have no idea if this is due to injury or development strategy. I talked to Dave Hall and he says even with his contacts he can’t get any information on injuries or line-up decisions.

You would think the media guys who help get butts in the seats could demand the coaches give them lineup decisions and injury + personnel updates.

There needs to be more accountability and access for this. How the hell do you build fan interest when you cant get info on the team
