Seems like a guy who could be on his way out soon in Florida.

He's been relegated to 3D role behind Forsling and Montour on the Panthers this year (average almost 2 minutes less of EV TOI/game thant those 2) and Montour took over PP1.

A lot of Panther fans seem ready to move on from him. 2 more years at 7.5M after this, NMC, he might waive if he's no longer the guy in FLA and they really try to rebuild the underwhelming dcore.

Who might want him and what would the value be

I wish I could remember the pod but I heard it from a Calgary fan originally so maybe some of them can chime in. It was last summer after the trade, Weegar basically just said it was him, Huberdeau and Ekblad running the show. In which case the trade makes even more sense if Zito wasn't happy about the power dynamics in the room.

Weird that management would fire its entire leadership structure after its most successful season?

If I am a leader at a company and the company is willing to fire myself and my other colleagues, thats a pretty clear indication that your services are (A) not needed and (B) replaceable. That's not the kind of leader I would want to be. As a matter of fact you would have to be pretty dumbwitted to even admit that out loud let alone grieve your incompetence on a podcast.

Way to sell low. Next year is the time to move him when he'll be playing for a new deal.

Wasn't this guy in the Norris discussion last year before he got injured? Should bring back a pretty good package.

Maybe they’ve already waited a year too long?

Habs offer you your pick back in '25?

No thanks, wouldn't fit our cap structure.

We are banking on a bridge deal with him in the 2.5m range. We can't lose what he brings at that near that cap hit and bring in a 7.5m guy on top of that.

If the Oilers legitimately went after him the D going your way would have to be Ceci or Kulak. The trade value would come in the form of futures (1st + prospect and or other picks)

1st + Bourgault + Yamamoto + Kulak for Ekblad

The high risk vs high reward for both teams.

If Ekblad and Karlsson were willing to waive their no move clauses, what would be seen as the value difference there?
