A lot could. Finding a RD in our age group that's a top 4 guy isn't easy though...

Don't find a RD. Find a LD for Dahlin and put Samuelsson with Power. Or toss 5x5 at Connor Clifton and at least don't get the bad knees/hips/groin/wishbone/whateverhebrokethisweekgettingoutofbed of Ekblad.

I'd be more concerned about the effects of his skating dropping if he was a great skater who relied on it, like a Duclair for example. Ekblad, as a below average skater, was in Norris contention for 2 straight years. Even if his skating gets a bit worse after he gets fully healthy (because he def hasnt been all year) it won't kill him as a player.

Seabrook 2.0.

Ekblad losing even more of his skating ability would be absolutely terrifying

Unless he loses a leg not sure it can get any worse. I would expect the opposite to happen if he can stay healthy. Last year's injury was already super unlucky.

He’s had lower body injuries 3 years in a row.

Anyone who signs him to his next contract will have zero excuses to cry about it

Is he playing bad or just being used as the 3rd behind them?

He's been hurt and having a hard time "coming back", has good games where he is playing well and others not so good. Overall he should be considered a top pairing dman in decline, who is due a new long term contract in two years.

Expensive, oft-injured and giving a division foe cap relief? What could go wrong...

All true. But also I think his handedness and play style could really round out our top 4. There'd be some risk there, but I do see the fit.

Care to provide the link? Or what was said?

I wish I could remember the pod but I heard it from a Calgary fan originally so maybe some of them can chime in. It was last summer after the trade, Weegar basically just said it was him, Huberdeau and Ekblad running the show. In which case the trade makes even more sense if Zito wasn't happy about the power dynamics in the room.

I'd like to see the jets try him out the 1st for sure and based on the type of retention would determine the prospect(s) that they well receive

They were definitely close, but I don’t know that they ran the room. Barkov and Yandle were the guys calling the new signees in Yandle’s last year. I believe Barkov continued that, haven’t heard that Weegs, Huby or Ek did.

I've heard that those Guys were at the strip club in Tampa, if so I’m sure that aids in them being moved, but honestly Zito got word that Tkachuk was available and pounced. Don’t think he minded moving those two.

Could Dallas be a fit?

Ekblad for Nurse.

Jokiharju + Oloffson for Ekblad

Leafs would be such a better team if this went down. No way Florida says yes though.

Lol, the only positive for the Leafs is that they let Ekblad walk to UFA to open up that money for an actual top pair D faster.

Reilly/Ekblad/who cares either or any of yall want a Seth Jones? 3 way? Please?

We will take bob too.

Maybe he was just pissed because he got traded, but that was Weegar's opinion. Who knows.
