Seems like a guy who could be on his way out soon in Florida.

He's been relegated to 3D role behind Forsling and Montour on the Panthers this year (average almost 2 minutes less of EV TOI/game thant those 2) and Montour took over PP1.

A lot of Panther fans seem ready to move on from him. 2 more years at 7.5M after this, NMC, he might waive if he's no longer the guy in FLA and they really try to rebuild the underwhelming dcore.

Who might want him and what would the value be

I’d be interested as a Leafs fan. Would have to do some salary cap gymnastics, but definitely not opposed to bringing him home.

Didn’t he have a fairly serious injury early on this year? I may be remembering it wrong but he was out earlier on in the season and it was speculated he would be out longer than he ended up being.

I always assumed he was just playing somewhat hurt

Overreacting and selling low on a player who's been very good for the past few seasons, before one rough one with a lot of different factors (new system, new partner, LBIs) would be stupid and shouldn't happen. Get a LD who can handle 1LD mins and be a partner for Ekblad (Orlov pls) and let Forsling cook on the 2nd pair and both should be much better than what they've shown this year.

It wouldn’t be an overreaction trade.

He’s always been a bad skater, for like 3 years in a row he’s suffered a major lower body injury and everything about his game tells you it won’t be pretty if you give him 9-10M into his 30’s.

Is he playing bad or just being used as the 3rd behind them?

Playing pretty bad, probably missing his BFFs Huberdeau and Weegar. They ran the locker room in Florida and now there's a new top dog in the house (Tkachuk).

He hasn;t been the same since his injury in November. Might be a locker room thing, but looks more health.

He's a slow D who got slower

The Sabres would have interest for sure.

Don't know if Florida likes the in-division idea.
It increases the price for sure...which of your LD would be available?

I'd be more concerned about the effects of his skating dropping if he was a great skater who relied on it, like a Duclair for example. Ekblad, as a below average skater, was in Norris contention for 2 straight years. Even if his skating gets a bit worse after he gets fully healthy (because he def hasnt been all year) it won't kill him as a player.

Nobody has the capspace.

Will gladly trade Canucks 1st rounder top 5 protected and hronek for him.

it will make you worse.

Didn’t you get fired as GM earlier this year?

Not sure what his value is but he could fit in well on Detroit's 2nd pair. Being from Windsor, Detroit would be a bit of a homecoming for him.

Can interest you in a Ben Chairot, some people think he is worth a 1st + 4th round pick :naughty:
