Need a reverse view to see if hit it was clean though.

This is the ref cam. Which I think the NHL should be mandating to put onto all NHL referees, as this is the ultimate judge of whether they made the correct call on the ice.

Given the speed of that hit, I had to watch it three time to track the point of contact, so you can appreciate how tough a call that is to make on the ice.

Correct.

But all I am saying is people are saying it is clean definitively from the one gif above.

I am not saying it was dirty or clean, just need a reverse view to really see that's all.

For disciplinary reviews, absolutely need more angles. But from a fans POV, would love to have these ref cams in all NHL games. Then you can understand why a call was or was not made.

Didn't watch the game, but I'm guessing thee was no penalty on the hit. Can't say I disagree with that. Even though I knew the hit was coming, I still had a hard time judging the point if impact. Ref had no clue it was coming and has to make a call right there.

Mild concussion is a stupid phrase.

It's a concussion.

Shut him down til the regular season at the earliest.

Eh, in a tourny like this where players dropped out at the mere presence of a hangnail or thought of an injury coming on, a mild concussion could simply a headache that the think has a remote chance of maybe being a concussion and not actually one, even moreso for the NA team, as they are not really playing for a nation.

Not downplaying concussions, nor saying that some players might not try to play through a bad injury for their country, but I think a very minor or even possible injury is probably going to take a player out of this tourny in favor of playing it safe.

I think the Refs wont agree to a ref cam to be honest.

It just opens the door for more heat to sent their way.

And no there wasn't a penalty, it was definitely a bang-bang play. Komarov came out of nowhere and the ref had an obscured view of the hit (as seen by the ref cam obviously).

Topic I would like to know more about: concussion severity. It seems odd that "a concussion is a concussion" any more than a "broken bone is a broken bone".

Ek is a smart kid and very aware of his profession and its dangers. When he got his clock cleaned in a Team Canada game before his first season it was reported as a mild concussion as well. He seemed just fine and said so after the game. I like to think he has good medical care and is smart enough to know that sitting out and following protocols is necessary for a long career and a happy life after hockey.

That was an awesome hit. The Florida heat must have you messed up. That hit was what we want to see in hockey.

looks bad when its your teams' player..

If that is what you want to see in hockey then here is hoping Matthews is on the receiving end of plenty hits like these. You know, for entertainment.

Tavares tore his MCL, which is much worse than any injury so far at the WHC, unless Ekblad's concussion is long-term. Most got small injuries and were replaced, this is partially due to their being more games, and teams being more cautious.

Tearing ur MCL WILL NOT potentially ruin the rest of your life.

Concussions are a FAAAR greater injury/health concern then an MCL tear AINEC...
