Concussions are never good but I wonder how many "minor" concussions previous generations suffered and didn't report

Terrible news for the game.

They'd better be super cautious with him now. Sit him out until late October or early November.

:(

How long has it been since his last concussion? I suffered several in a short period of time when I was around his age and it has taken years to get back to normal.

In other words, he's done for the tournament. Doesn't he have to have 5 days symptom free in order to come back? Hopefully he's ready for Florida.

Mild concussion is a stupid phrase.

It's a concussion.

Shut him down til the regular season at the earliest.

That's his third concussion already? Yikes, I don't like that at all. Would be a shame if the best young defenseman we've seen in years has his career ruined.

Mild concussions don't even exist. Concussions are concussions.

Hopefully it's nothing career-altering.

Too bad. What a great young hockey player whose precise on ice execution is always a pleasure to watch. Uncle Leo gets a minus from this one in my books. Get well soon, kid.

He seemed pretty animated when yelling/jawing at the Finnish bench after the hit, which usually isn't the case with guys who have really gotten their bell rung. Lets hope the concussion wasn't too bad.

Sucks big time for Team NA of course, it probably cost them the game today, but I understand Florida fans are far more concerned.

Crosby's career hasn't derailed like I thought it might after his last concussion. I hope its the same with eks and he is able to recover fully

Hasn't derailed but Sid hasn't been the electrifying force he was in his pre-concussion days. He was on another level from everyone else besides maybe Ovechkin, now he's still the best player in the league but it's because he's far superior defensively to his younger days and not so much because of his dominance offensively.

Lost out on a few years of his prime for sure.

So this tournament has already resulted in more injuries to star players than all the best-on-best Olympics combined. Happy, owners?

It was never about the injuries, it was always the $$$

Get well soon Aaron. It really sucks.

Bergeron has a similar story. He was actually known more for his offense his first couple years until Randy Jones introduced himself and Bergeron lost most of a season. He didn't really become Mr. Selke until after his first two concussions.

I'm sure Ekblad is upset to miss the rest of the tournament but he needs to do whatever is necessary to recover. I just hope all these guys don't have problems later in life.
