For what it's worth (and it's literally worth nothing), the official Sportsnet Staff picks:

David Amber: Leafs in 7
Nick Kypreos: Leafs in 6
Justin Bourne: Leafs in 7
Luke Fox: Leafs in 7
Eric Engels: Leafs in 6
Alex Adams: Senators in 6
Ryan Dixon: Leafs in 6
Matt Marchese: Leafs in 6
Mike Futa: Leafs in 6
Jason Bukala: Leafs in 6
Mark Spector: Senators in 7
Eric Francis: Leafs in 6
Iain MacIntyre: Senators in 7
Anna Dua: Leafs in 7
Jacob Stoller: Senators in 7
Sonny Sachdeva: Leafs in 7
Sam Cosentino: Leafs in 6
Rory Boylen: Leafs in 6

For Sens fans, it should be worrying that only Mark Spector and 3 people no one has ever heard of have got your back.

As for the Leafs, maybe worse to have Amber, Cosentino and even more names that no one's ever heard of.

Let's call it an even split then?

I mean the only reason to vote against the Leafs is if you think they are destined to lose in round 1 every season, which we know is not true but people just ignore that win.

Otherwise, you'd be a fool to not vote for the team who won the division, in their prime contending window, big heavy defense, goalie with the best sv% in the league, cup winning coach behind the bench vs a promising but young team making the playoffs for the first time with a coach that has never coached in real playoffs before

Jake Sanderson is a good player.

Jake Sanderson has 23 5 on 5 points and is -11

Jake McCabe is a good player and has missed time.

Jake McCabe had 22 5 on 5 points and is +23

Sanderson isn’t even the best Jake in the series, let alone in the last 50 years.
Sanderson was saddled with Hamonic for an extended period of time when Zub was out injured. I wouldn't put too much stock on his +/-. Any D's play will suffer when paired with Hamonic. Sanderson has been really good since 4 Nations. Great skater, good D zone coverage, great in transition and has started scoring recently. I think his experience (as well as Brady) in 4 Nations will help them better navigate the playoffs.

When the Leafs lost to the habs in the playoffs, what were the Sportsnet Staff picks back then?

We all know the Sens have no chance to win. But I'll say this, Leafs fans are setting themselves up for some major bullying should a miracle happen. Be humble my people.
T just as long as you are prepared for the exact opposite reaction if the leafs win.

Plenty of reasons to vote against the Leafs. I mean congrats on recent 1st round victory, but you did get smashed unequivocally in the 2nd round that year. Big, heavy defense that can block shots, but only a beat up OEL and the corpse of Morgan Rielly can transition or provide any offensive support. Unproven playoff goalie. Best players historically have their sphincters tighten in key moments. Sens are a live dog here.

Travis Green has really helped the team reduce their HDCA and GAA.

DJ Smith was good in the room and was well-liked but Green is more structured and disciplined.

If the performance metric for Green was to make the playoffs this year, he's met that bar.

I wasn't a fan of the signing but it's worked thus far.

One area of contention is his apparent love for Travis Hamonic, who both statistically and by the eye-test, is our worst defenceman.
And playing the 4th line with the 3rd pairing. Thank God Cousins and Zetterlund will be on the 4th line if he continues doing this.

Leafs run 5 forward PP. 5v5 their numbers are close. McCabe vs Sandersen for example

Of course they’re a live dog, this is hockey. There are no layups like the NBA. But you’re exposing a lack of knowledge when you say McCabe can’t transition or provide offensive support. Each pair has one stay at home guy (Tanev/Carlo/Benoit) and one guy who can jump up into the play.

Different type of player, similar impact

Your exposing your fanboy-ism and McCabe isnt that guy and he is hurt. Good luck though.

Poll results indicate there’s not much of an underdog in this series which matches what I hear talking to other hockey fans.

Should be interesting.

That’s just the regular leaf hate. Don’t get it twisted

When have you ever seen a poll on hfboards go the leafs way?

That’s why I added that it matches what I hear talking to other hockey fans. I was a little surprised but there’s quite a bit of excitement about and confidence regarding Ottawa.
