Wouldn't it be great Karma if the Leafs are up in the series clinching game, Ottawa net empty and Knies gets a breakaway unleashing slap shot into the net to put the game away

We would have so much fun with that.

"If you didn't want the slapper in your net you shouldn't have lost a series to the Maple Leafs"

It was a cheeky comment based on someone thinking if the sens score first the Leafs may crumble.
That could be, because I think they have best record in the league if score first.
35-6 this year, 21-1 at home.

I assume that was the point of that post, I assume.

How much fun would a Leafs v Habs Conference Final be? The atmosphere would be electric. Both cities rocking. Really nothing like we’ve seen in 60 years. And add in social media and coverage now, compared to then. Wow!
The Bell Centre would be incredible. Scotiabank arena would be a library on a busy day.

So one set of data says the Sens pairing is marginally better then the Leafs pairing....another one says the Leafs pairing is marginally better then the Sens pairing and your conclusion is that the Sens pairing is obviously better?
I never look at money puck data.

My initial post on the matter was responding to a poster saying the Leafs had the best top 4 ainec. The data I look at, which is a pretty common site, says otherwise.

My conclusion is if you want to join a conversation, you should trace it back to its origin, else you look a little silly.

List JT/Matthews and then McMann/Knies? I am sure Ottawa is still winning in hits, just by less, and the star power is more similar.
I'm sure there's some way to present the information that it favour's Toronto I just can't be bothered. Toronto has a big 4. They are soft.

More like, you guys are clearly the 2nd best team, and are hoping for divine intervention (a choke) to win. A lot of fans seem to think as soon as the Sens turn it on the Leafs will fold when that hasn't been the case in a long long time. This is not the Leafs of even a few years ago. The Leafs will be the ones engaging and installing how they want the game to be played.

I don't blame Sens fans for cheering that is the point of sports. It's just most fans who think the Sens win don't think they are actually better, they think the Leafs will just give them the win.
I think the roadmap to the Sens winning will require:
- TML top 4 don't score much when you take away their time/space.
- Sens bottom 6 & D provide more secondary scoring than TML bottom 6 & D.
- Sanderson, Brady and Ullmark bring their A games.
- Forwards and Ullmark shelter Sens 3rd D pairing.
- Former cup winners Perron, Amadio, Cousins lead the way.
- They remain healthy.

Do Sens fans realize Ullmark is literally the biggest playoff choker….

Vezina Ullmark was barely NHL caliber in that series vs Florida
I can't argue with that. When it comes to truly understanding what it takes to be a playoff choker, Leaf fans are the experts!

For the Leafs

- Don't take a bunch of penalties Sens draw a lot and our PK sucks. This is the one area I have legit concern
- stay healthy
- Just play no thinking

How good was the atmosphere for that Saturday night Can v US at the Four Nations from Montreal? Now magnify that over a series! TO fans would be over the moon with excitement because their club got through two rounds. Be crazy!

You said definitively that Sanderson-Zub is the best pairing....because the data says so. The data does not agree that it is definitive. Just because you ignore the stats that don't agree with you doesn't mean they don't exist.

They aren't soft, but sure we can say that... all four of them produced at a higher rate than anyone on Ottawa, so that's fun.

For what it's worth (and it's literally worth nothing), the official Sportsnet Staff picks:

David Amber: Leafs in 7
Nick Kypreos: Leafs in 6
Justin Bourne: Leafs in 7
Luke Fox: Leafs in 7
Eric Engels: Leafs in 6
Alex Adams: Senators in 6
Ryan Dixon: Leafs in 6
Matt Marchese: Leafs in 6
Mike Futa: Leafs in 6
Jason Bukala: Leafs in 6
Mark Spector: Senators in 7
Eric Francis: Leafs in 6
Iain MacIntyre: Senators in 7
Anna Dua: Leafs in 7
Jacob Stoller: Senators in 7
Sonny Sachdeva: Leafs in 7
Sam Cosentino: Leafs in 6
Rory Boylen: Leafs in 6

For Sens fans, it should be worrying that only Mark Spector and 3 people no one has ever heard of have got your back.

As for the Leafs, maybe worse to have Amber, Cosentino and even more names that no one's ever heard of.

Let's call it an even split then?

I'd agree that the Sanderson-Zub duo statistically is at least a bit better than McCabe-Tanev.

Beyond that I don't know, but certainly anyone saying the Leafs top 4 is "better and it's not close" is simply not true. But I am confident over the next week or so as fans we're going to get a great vantage point to watch it play out.

Poll results indicate there’s not much of an underdog in this series which matches what I hear talking to other hockey fans.

Should be interesting.
