Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-2)

You have a point. The team looks slow and scared. Not sure what the issue is.

I read a few people saying there was a bug going through the room.

Doesn’t matter if that’s true or not, at the end of the day.

The leafs ran out of excuses after the Montreal series. 9 seasons of excuses just turns into the boy who cried wolf.

Leafs need to put up or shut up, that’s where the story begins and ends

AS a Leafs fan, I am scared. Let's say they lose this series, there is still a great chance they just run it back again. That terrifies me because I might have to ditch this team after 25 years. I can't keep watching the same thing over and over again. It would break my heart, but what can I do?

So far the team that wins the faceoffs battle + special teams battle, has won pretty much every game

Last game

Matthews loses defensive zone draw, seconds later goal
Matthews turns it over on the PP, SHG

That's the game

Game 4

Leafs allow a PPG + a SHG
Leafs fail to score on a 4 minute PP in OT

Do a better job on the faceoffs and start f***ing competing on the special teams again, way too complacent
Leafs PP was so huge in Games 1-3, but the decision to go 5 forwards and play them for the first 1:30 of every PP needs to be questioned at this point. Sens definitely took advantage yesterday with an odd-man rush, against a forward with all the support gassed.

Surely they can't mess this up again. Right?

Surely they wouldn't be just the 5th team in NHL history to get reverse swept. Right?

SURELY they wouldn't run this back next year. RIGHT!?

I'm all for having a laugh, but we've ascended into cosmic-levels of tragedy.

No. He said only 4 of 211 teams down 3-0 have come back to win. That's 2% of teams, not a 2% chance of winning. There's a difference. If you don't see it then take another math class my man.

A single game's results are independent of the series, but a series is the aggregate of these games. The probability that Ottawa wins game 6 is different than the probability than Ottawa coming back down 3-0 to win the series.

Long story short for the both of you, it's statistically very unlikely for Ottawa to win this series. If I'm betting $1000 on who wins this series I'd still put it on the Leafs, even if they lose game 6.
You didn't need to type all that to say i was right. And yeah, Ottawa still has a relatively low chance of winning this series.

The faceoff battle has been an important one. Ottawa was absolutely dominated the first 3 games. Game 5 was the first time faceoffs had been close to 50/50. Playoff series are about adjustments, Ottawa adjusted to neutralize what Toronto was doing well - now Toronto needs to adjust to get around what Ottawa is doing, etc. etc.

They are losing this series. Marner is as good as gone.

Very impressed the way Matthews broke his stick on the bench yesterday. What skill!!! :thumbu:

Nonetheless...why are people surprised at what's taking place? Too much TSN KoolAid?
It's their MO. It's what they do.

Matthews certainly stood out as he had such a glaringly horrible game people couldn't even blame Marner. Nylander a bit for ol'times sake.

And how can Stolarz who's around 8'11" make himself look so small. Is it Woll's turn? Maybe.

One things for sure...the CotU is about to explode.

If the Leafs win, beating a team in the first round like Ottawa in 6/7 is more beneficial for their run long term than sweeping them in my opinion.

I can see where you’re coming from, and I agree in principle but losing a sweep is one failure, winning in 7 is 3 failures for a team who has done enough looking in the mirror and learning lessons by now.

The only character building that this team still has to experience is winning.

The questions are all around if they’re capable. Montreal series is evidence that they are not, this series is beginning to solidify that point of view.

Lots of hockey to play, but the demons are out and on full display now.

With all due respect, man … you’ve been making wildly sweeping proclamations on both sides of “the sens are done” or “the leafs are done” after almost every lead in this series.

You’re not consistent or logical in your predictions, you’re just exaggerating due to the way the wind is blowing at the time

Slowly but surely people watching this series are realizing who the Sens best player is. And it isn't Tkachuk, Stutzle or Ullmark.
Yep. I called it before the series started.

Literally nobody paid any attention to Ottawa. All the media wanted to talk about was Tkachuk, Stutzle and Ullmark.

Even today, people are like "oh, yeah, I guess Sanderson pretty good, but leafs leafs leafs, core 4, ullmark, tkachuk".

He's putting the team on his back right now. Shades of 2017 Karlsson. He leads any skater in time on ice in this series by a huge Margin.

TOI/GP
27:21 Sanderson
24:42 Chabot
23:32 Zub
22:58 Marner
22:28 McCabe
