I don't get why the team was fined unless Green instructed Cousins to do it
Organizational accountability.
I had a friend at the game last night. A couple that live in Ottawa and from Toronto originally. They were wearing Leaf jerseys. The Ottawa mascot came up to them and knocked the bag of popcorn amour of her hands, to rile up the crowd I guess. No compensation or replacement for the popcorn or anything.
Innocent, right? Harmless? Funny?
Well, on the at our of the game my friends were "body checked" pretty hard by an "Ottawa fan". Hard enough to require a hospital visit for a concussion and neck injury.
I am not relating directly the actions of a fan to a mascot to what a player does in warm up to what a player does in the game, but at the same time the organization needs to be accountable for the tone they set, what they allow to happen, etc.
In the specific case here a team that signs Cousins at this point in his career should be held accountable for him doing douchy things, it's not like we couldn't see it coming
As a Leaf fan I am just glad he was not suspended
