Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-0)

The series is over already? Weird.

You didn't get the choker label from losing a couple of tough playoff matchups. I don't think I need to provide a list of reasons, it's WELL documented. The fact you think it's magically erased after game 1 is the same mentality behind why that team ends up shitting the bed before closing the deal

GUYS WE WON A GAME THE SERIES IS OURS
Literally nothing anyone says on here has any effect on the outcome of the series lmao we could be the most humble grateful little winners and it makes absolutely no difference. We do not matter...we exist to annoy the f*** out of you. That is it.

You’ve won 1 series in 9 years. Pierre Dorion has more playoff wins as Ottawa GM than Toronto has in 21 years.

Get off your high horse, your team is going to choke this series away and you’re watching Mitch Marner in his final 5 Leafs games. And you won’t enjoy it because they will lose this series in 6 games
and what have the sens done?
right

Oh we know how this goes. We know very very well how this goes.

But down 4-1 going into the 3rd period, even after making it 4-2 your team didn’t do what the 2013 bruins did.

And your goaltender doesn’t look like 2021 Carey price, either.

So let’s see what else your team has in their back pocket. I don’t think they have very much, personally

Buddy, I say this with all sincerity in the world: You should really find something else to live for.

Sens got the jitters out and will undoubtedly adjust. Leafs will need to be prepared.

Happy with the 1-0 but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Lots of hockey yet to be played.

Hopefully the Leafs got some confidence but not too much confidence!

Senators came out with a game plan, pressure with high speed and take time space away. But the Leafs matched the hitting in the first, and took advantage of indisciplined penalties by the Sens and a weak goaltender. Even the goals the leafs gave up on rebounds are uncharacteristic.

If the whistle goes away it still think Leafs win games like this 3-1 or 2-0.

Senators can’t be cross checking people in the head. Fans might complain on soft calls on hitting Matthews and OEL, but those are penalties all day long. Just soft compared to raking your stick across someone’s face I guess.

Pressure is on the Sens. They don't want to go down 2 games.

I'm hoping they grip the sticks too tight. They for sure will have to change if they want a different result. Goalie change? Stop taking stupid penalties? Specially the offensive zone penalties. Batherson is a decent player but he killed his team with those o-zone penalties.

The Leafs just have to keep playing simple Berube hockey. North-south hockey. I'm guessing the line-up will remain the same. Just have to watch out for Sens players doing dirty crap. After the whistle stuff. Keep shots to the outside.

Should be another win if the Leafs come out swinging again

I would agree that there were a couple of questionable penalty calls in the game, but that has nothing to do with Ullmark turning into Patrick Lalime, which is by far the biggest reason the result was what it was.

I don’t know. Have watched plenty of hockey in January or February where it’s a lot harder to get a call. They are sometimes penalties and the frustration is that so many borderline calls were made. That and the one that started it off on Stutzle was flat out a bad call.

If this guy touches the ice again this series, the Sens are confirmed trying to lose on purpose.

Of course they would because that's what underdogs do. If you are the heavy favourite you usually wait to "crow" until you've won a round or two; not after the first game.
Now we're playing the "heavy favourite" card just to make sure all bases are covered.

Leafs get upset, they choked.
Leafs win, they were supposed to.

Sens are a very good team, and they're only going to get better. They finished one point back of Florida, and five behind Tampa. I don't think a lot of intelligent hockey fans would be shocked if they knocked the Leafs off.

If I was advising the Sens I would say they should go down in the series 2 or 3 games. Then you got the Leafs right where you want 'em!

And yes I'm too damaged of a Leafs fan. They should not hire me.

Such weird arguments by Sens fans. Complaining about refs, yet had almost 50 more powerplays during the regular season than the Leafs and were 1st in the NHL for powerplay opportunities by a large margin. Maybe don’t cross check and board guys?
Sens have led the NHL in PP opportunities each of the last 3 seasons. They also had 9 (nine) PPs in their final game (literally have no idea how that's possible).

They're not used to receiving less PPs than the opposition. Conversely, the Leafs aren't used to having more PPs than their opposition as it only happened 22% of the time during the season.
