A rep for the company that installed the stadium’s roof, Geiger Engineers, did not return messages from NBC News seeking comment Thursday. A rep on Friday said the firm would not discuss the matter.

However in an interview with The New York Times, a top Geiger Engineers official appeared to shift blame for the roof’s destruction to the stadium owners and operators.

That roof was “well past its intended service life,” Geiger Engineers principal David Campbell told the newspaper. The Trop’s roofing fabric has a lifespan of 25 years, he said. Tropicana Field opened to the public in 1990 and still had its original roof.

Same for me on iPhone. Same error message as you got. Started yesterday I think.

Have you tried the usual (clearing browser history and cookies)? Did the trick for me for now.

Should mascots get into the 'talking button' viral craze, or is that too weird?

I haven't seen it on social media (yet), but it would reconceptualize mascots in a weird way. The buttons are more about the humans filming them, who think their pets (learners?) not only have a strong grasp of the English language, but can think in abstract terms.

I feel that the angle would be to essentially turntables. The mascot, as we know, has a human level of understanding, is literate (literally), so the buttons keep getting willfully misinterpreted by others.

RE:Scam is a New Zealand website where you forward your scam e-mails, and they use a bot to waste their time. I've got an old e-mail address that got rumbled some time ago, so I get maybe one or two scams a week.

Is there an alternative to yup.io for aggregating Twitter, Bluesky, etc.?

Twitter is worse than it used to be, but it's also not quite bad enough for users to leave quickly en masse. There would need to be a significant hindrance to users (think Digg v4) to push people out.

Transformers One is currently a 7.7 on IMDb. In no way is that movie a 7.7.

Gravity is a 7.7. Black Hawk Down is a 7.7. Malcolm X is a 7.7. The Lego Movie is a 7.7. Cinema.

Transformers One is like a 6.5 at best.

It's not been flooded with bots and differing opinions (so far).

Bluesky hasn't really been seriously tested yet, but if the old Twitter base is going to get Balkanized, then just being able to aggregate everything would be useful.

I would just like to have Twitter back to my own sports news bubble that it was pre Musk days. I'm not sure that is possible to do in its current form no matter how many accounts you block. I don't have much hope for a platform for any political talk on the internet that wouldn't turn into a pile of shit.
