Value of: A trade involving Marner & Dahlin. Interest on either side? What would it take?

You wouldn’t want Marner with an extension in place?
There’s nothing Toronto can add to this deal to make Buffalo a better team?
I just think Marner's a poor fit here. We need a top 6 center and we could really use a RHD that can actually defend. Those are our biggest needs. The strength of the organization right now is all the young forward talent we have in the pipeline and on the team, most of which projects to the wing.
Dahlin is the cornerstone of the team. There aren't many players in the league Buffalo would consider moving him for, Marner is not even a conversation starter, no matter how much the Leafs stack on top of him.

Basically that’s it. What would it take to make both the Sabres & Maple Leafs a trade winner? If possible.

Buffalo doesn't have interest since they'd have to pay Marner this summer.

I hate these kind of threads, it's borderline insulting. It's pretty universally accepted that Franchise D are worth more than Franchise wingers. Then you add in the UFA status and some arrogant fans and you get this...

One sided offer is made by a large fanbase, opposing fans respond that their player is more important. Larger fanbase proceeds to ridicule and mock the opposing player, team, fans and city.

You start by adding Matthews and removing Marner. Sorry boss, we need D and Centers more than wingers.

Marner is having a career year (surprise, just like his buddies it's a contract year). Leafs are just doing their stretching now so they can grab their ankles later. They just saw how Nylander quit trying after he got his money last year so they will sign Marner to his $14.5m contract after the season.

I mean, Adams and Pegula are fools so this is definitely worth asking from Torontos perspective…but it would have to take diminished mental capacity for anyone to think trading Dahlin is a good idea for Buffalo.

Toronto should just play hardball with Mitch knowing he wants to be in Toronto. Offer him 6 x $10M/yr and dare him to leave as a UFA. If he does, use the money to build a more balanced team. Either that or identify a young, unproven D-man that you can trade him for…but going after another team’s established #1D for a UFA winger is absurd and borderline insulting.

Just let the Leafs sign the razzle dazzle prince to his well deserved $14 million x 8 year deal and Toronto fans will rejoice.
This would be a dumb move for Buffalo. Very very dumb
