This was me after Pavs stopped the last one:

Dunno why, but when they were down 2-0, I had this feeling they'd get themselves back into this one. Some definite issues, but they never stopped battling.

Man: Scheifele with a couple of crazy moves tonight too - going to .gif that last one.

Ladd: leads the league in SO winners now, with 3. Dude is money on the SO this year.

Some big stops at crucial times by Pavs. Interesting refereeing tonight, but at least they made the right call on the no-goal / interference goal by the Sharks.

That was too much fun.

Holy poo.. Great post.. everything I feel... now I'm off to read the rest.

Shamelessly plugging my post game recap. View it here.

I too like Ellerby aside from his one pizza delivery tonight, it's really hard to play D after sitting out most of this season and seeing minimal game action the past few years, impressive and he will get better, can't teach size and skating ability.

Yeah, no. Skating is one of the few things that can be improved upon hugely in a player....

Uh, what? False. He definitely won a puck battle in our end. In fact he stopped a really great chance with very little time left, so...

Good recap!

Our 3rd line looks comfortable together and they are producing at both ends of the ice (correction make that all 3 zones which is even better). There guys have created goals off of forced turnovers in the last two games. My hopes are the coaching staff lets them stay together for a good stretch even if they have a bad game. I think it is the best place for Scheif offense to blossom and Fro and Hustle are guys that a team can count on night in night out, shift in shift out. this is what a 3rd line should look and feel like IMO.

It's my impression that Scheifele's speed has improved substantially in the past couple of years. He could still improve his balance, but he has come a long way.

Nope.

Not serious.

I'm just really, really sick of going to my favorite site to read hockey news and hearing crap.

It ruins it for me.

I don't drink the koolaid, but the negative **** ruins my enjoyment of the genuine dialog that should go on here.

I have no genuine knowledge of what Noel does as a coach.

I think Schieffle is a good player, who is doing his best, and the team is using him in the best way they know how.

I love Byfuglien. He makes mistakes, but I have his sweater, and wear his t-shirt to bed.

To re-state, I'm really, really sick of the negativity. Nothing special there, but if you look at the other team sites it's all the same thing.

Do you think there's something special about Jet's fans? No.

They'll turn on you in the blink of an eye.

I agree ! Nobody on this site is qualified on evaluating NHL coaches and management . We have no clue what happens behind closed doors and what's involved. Yes, our PP needs work and we need another center. I think Chevy knows this :sarcasm: No , we are not getting Toews or Crosby. This will be a solid playoff team in the future, Noel is not perfect but for what he has to work with he has done OK. Scotty Bowman wouldn't have this team any closer to the playoffs.

Even Ol'Sip has noticed a markable improvement in young Schief's game, the points will soon follow.

can see the Jets rolling:

Enstrom-Bogo

Buff-Clitmore

Ellerby-Trouba

Good-bye Stu, Postma, Redmond....Pardy remains as the 7th D man.

PS Good riddance Stu!

not to mention the fact that he was a *cough* panthers *cough* prospect. personally i think his development was rushed which is why hes struggled so much the past few years. pair that with the fact that florida screwed over his confidence (made sure to use the ahl as a weapon against him after poor treatment from rochester fans :shakehead [every time he made a mistake that any young player is bound to make he was sent right back to the AHL, i understand that he may have needed more time at the AHL level but calling him up and letting him play a few games until he makes a mistake then sending him back isnt going to do anything for his development and all it will do for his confidence is weaken it] ) and hes most definitely a project. placed in the right system he'll mature into some version of the defenseman he was supposed to be.

If, as you say, nobody is qualified to comment on coaching then how can you make that last statement? How do you know Bowman wouldn't have this team any closer to the playoffs?

Look folks, this is a fan board. Its not the "blow happy bubbles all day long board." When things are sucking, people will ***** and complain. Its true none of us know what goes on behind closed doors as regards coaching, but we can all see what happens on the ice and we can all "read the tea leaves" when it comes to how things go with pro sports. The reality is that Noel is on a short leash this year. Its not some imaginary thing some of us have come up with. He's got the shortest contract of anyone in the organization. If things go poorly enough for long enough, he'll be fired. If the team manages to get above .500 and hovers there for the duration, he'll likely make it to the end of the season. However, there's no denying that some issues this team has could be related to coaching (crazy inconsistency, flat performances, poor systems?) and these issues have been pretty much the same from day 1 with Jets 2.0. If things don't improve, Noel will be gone.

Its great when the Jets put together a game like last night. Awesome fun to watch. The problem is they don't do that nearly often enough. Same goes with goaltending - Pavs has looked ok the last couple of games, but over the season his stats will likely end up looking the same as they always have and that isn't good enough. Eventually, changes have to be made and that's what fans are going to talk about on forums like this. Its an open forum and everyone is free to talk about whatever they want. If the tone is getting you down, post something happy. But you should be able to do so without belittling the opinions of people who have valid points of their own...

Chevy is still putting pieces together and we are still going to have inconsistent nights with our youth and lack of depth. I think last night was a glimpse in to a promising future ! We are showing some positive signs of becoming a gritty team with a lot of fight and skill. In 2 years if we are still struggling and playoffs are not a reality, then all the negativity will be warranted. People will be rightfully disappointed.

The Sharks had jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, despite the fact that Jets outshot the Sharks 15-9 in the period and thoroughly outplayed them. Dan Boyle had blasted a powerplay goal from the point and Tomas Hertl showed his nice finish on a breakaway attempt. Matthew Nieto also had a breakaway attempt in the period but Pavelec stopped that one.

That was Andrew Desjardins, wasn't Nieto.

Good write-up otherwise. ;)

Is this a reference to the mythical "5 year plan?" If it is, then that's great. The problem is even if there is a 5 year plan, you'd want to see some real progress being made over those years. Its not like you hit a magic spot at 5 years and all of a sudden a non playoff team becomes a SC contender over night. The problem a lot of us have is that the team as it is looks almost exactly the same as the team as it was 2 seasons ago in spite of the fact that lots of different players have been moved around. It doesn't really look like we're in year 3 of any 5 year plan. It still looks like we're in year one.

Speaking of that, one of my favourite Jets seems to have incredibly slow acceleration, takes a whole bunch of short choppy strokes without going anywhere until he finally gets his speed up. Kind of like Fred Flinstone driving away. Could probably really benefit from some speed skating lessons. Anyone else notice that about Peluso's skating?

The issue is that the Jets now have a pretty defined core of players, based on the length and amounts of their contracts.

Little, Ladd, Wheeler, Kane, Scheifele, Frolik (getting there), Wright :)naughty:).

Buff, Enstrom, Bogo, Trouba.

Pavelec.

It's not an old core, but most of them should be in their prime or close too it (except Trouba and Scheifele). Thus far, the performance has been bottom half of the league overall.

So, how do they improve? I think that Scheifele and Trouba will improve naturally, and that will improve the overall quality. Perhaps the team will "gel" still further, but this is a group that has played together for quite some time and this is Noel's third season, so they should be on the same page. In the next couple of years, perhaps a couple of prospects will break into the line-up (Lowry? Morrissey? Petan?), but it will take them another couple of years to be top contributors.

So, naturally, fans are thinking of ways that they think the Jets could improve. Of course, it's a bunch of amateurs, but fans will be fans. The two most obvious options are changing the coach or shaking up the core through a trade. Discussing those sorts of things doesn't mean that people aren't still fans. It just means that fans have a lot invested in hoping that their team becomes a perennial challenger.

What a day. Two great comeback wins! Go Riders! Go Jets Go!

Realized how much I under-appreciated Captain Ladd. Guy is so clutch kinda reminds of Eberle in the World Juniors. Hope to see him get a nod for the Olympic Team.

Beyak and Engblom are the best pairing in hockey broadcasting I've heard/saw in a long time. Really enjoyed their broadcast.

I prefer Mike Johnson doing the colour commentary. Engblom tends to over-explain things and talks too much.

I wish TSN would archive these games. I don't get the Manitoba feed in BC so I don't get to watch the local broadcast :(
