Jake Evans? He's having a good year and has a manageable cap hit. You have to think he's on a lot of teams list.
He was talking about him and then mentioned this anonymous player, so potentially.

On him Freidman says he thinks the asking price is a 2nd, which seems easy enough to pay.

The daily cap accrues during 4 nations?

I feel that would indicate that you could expect more deals toward the end versus the beginning.

If the cap is a concern - why start eating cap before you get to use the player?

Friedman speculated that that might be the case as players come back from trips, make trades as a sort of gentleman take. Use the time to get the groundwork and then make the trade.

A player told me he thinks he will be traded. He plays on an NHL team and wears skates while playing. He isn't in the 4 Nations but does enjoy walks on the beach and loves to have pineapple on his pizza.

I guess if you read between the lines, the player who thinks they’ll be traded has probably had their name thrown out a bunch already, since they don’t seem surprised.

“It’s been an honour,” the 28-year-old said. “It’s such a fun place to play, it’s such a great place to live, and I’ve just really enjoyed it. It’s truly an honour. There’s so much tradition here, so many great players that have worn this great jersey with pride, and it’s truly an honour.”
But Evans knows that, with six games to go to the trade deadline, the Canadiens have dipped back below .500 and are six points out of a wild-card spot and 11 points behind the Lightning for third in the Atlantic Division. He knows that the teams they’re chasing have games in hand on them, and he definitely knows that teams in the position his team is in move on from players on expiring contracts.

jake?

Trades during the the 4 nations, for players not at the tournament, make complete sense. If you're going to acquire a guy and get them to move all their family and possessions to a completely different place, having a week or two longer than normal is the perfect time to do it.

It gives those players a chance to settle in and meet some of the staff and other players.

Also, reading second-hand, apparently several players told Friedman they expect to get traded over the break. I haven't listened to the podcast so no clue if true.
