It varies industry to industry (and race to race, though some of that is also industry demographics) and there are even a few token examples of women coming out ahead (health care) due to their numbers but overall, "job to job" across the board... yeah, not a myth. Like... just look at how you say things. You realize that "child rearing" is the act of raising a child, not giving birth to one, right? Either parent could do that if they were so inclined, but the thing is... why would the mother, when she's statistically likely to bring back 80% of the income the father could make? You see how it's a self-fulfilling thing because of social trappings that you don't believe exist?
