A message to the HF Bruins community

Meh, I just paid the $12 again. Consider it makeup for all the years I browsed using an ad blocker. 🤣

Thanks to all the big brains who put the lights back on

Honestly though, just let this thing die next time lol. The majority of us are not worth saving

@Fenway : please don’t think we take all your hard work dedication for granted. It took HF going temporarily dark to realize what this community means to me ( and most of us here). We don’t express our thanks nearly enough to you and mods like @Gee Wally.:towel:Hats off to you for getting the lights back on and the hamsters back on their wheels!!

Kevin, you are one of a kind. Type of guy they just don't make anymore. You put up with a lot. You love this community and this sport and you do your best to keep this site going.

Everything that you do on here is very much appreciated. And you're doing it for free. You deserve a night out at Kowloon (only the best establishment for the best mod around).

I appreciate you a lot and I think you know that. Your kindness and understanding and a willingness to help makes all the difference.

So thank you, for all that you do @Fenway

And for the rest of the mods, thank you as well. I'm sure this site stuff has been a lot. And I'm sure very annoying and fustrating. So thank you for all that you do, putting up with us.

Did not realize how often I was mindlessly accessing this forum until I couldn’t do it anymore!! :D I would say it was a nice break but that would be a lie.

And here you and others were and still are, Fenway, working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring that simple joy back to all of us.

Now I get to continue to talk about the team I love with some pretty great people.

Thank you isn’t enough. But thank you :thumbu:

They say you'll live longer reading the funny papers rather than the obits with morning coffee and this community, our community, waffles between both extremes, sometimes in a moment's notice . . .but it's home.

How else could a Upstate NY'er get Bruins info in the early days of the interweb. The early incarnations of this place were a godsend.

And fun it is/was. More times than I care to remember, overt laughter, invites to "coffee," flat out threats, bans, posters resurfacing . . .and through it all, a passionate group of fans and many of you, close friends.

When Covid hit, and all AA rooms closed, we still had a network of cell phone contacts, meetings surfaced on something called Zoom, we met in outdoor pavillions during rain and snowstorms.

When this place went silent, I really thought, well thats it. A great run, but wow, I was noticing the start of the grieving process.

Fenway, Wally, and so many more volunteers, THANK YOU does not seem enough. I remember Board get-to-gethers at Rinks for some . . . I fear with 60 staring at me, that drop in hockey is no more, but maybe a get-to-gether to honour the Volunteers here who do so much for so little.

Despite the train wreck of a season, no group I'd rather be with . . .I'm the Cello player as the band plays on the deck of the Titanic.

@Fenway I note from the Globe article from ye olden days that allegedly your "love affair with the Bruins had come to an abrupt end". But here you still are, and here we all are also. Thanks to you and @Gee Wally and everyone else who keeps this site running. It is much appreciated.

We're stuck with the Bruins, and with each other, so we may as well make the best of it!

@Aussie Bruin Weston Adams Jr gave me a complete playoff strip after reading it in the Globe, all I had to do was show the card the Bruins gave us in line. He explained that there were shenanigans inside the Garden Box Office and it was a problem since the building opened. It was no coincidence that the main scalpers were from Charlestown and they always had the good seats.

When Jacobs took over, he tried to get rid of the pizza stand on the stadium concourse and was politely told to back off, or the wise guys from the North End would burn the building down. BTW across from the pizza concession was a souvenir stand that was actually a bookie shop. He was not going to call their bluff and he came very close to moving the Bruins to New Hampshire. That is how badly he wanted to escape tribal Boston of that era.

Thanks everyone for the good words - I promise to keep feeding the hamsters :)

This crash took a lot out of the volunteer staff, including me.

A year ago, the owner contracted with a cloud server company in the UK that also designs the forum software. What I was concerned about at the time proved to be dead on - NOBODY involved with HF Boards has shell access to the server. Right now there is an 8 hour time difference between the Evolve techs and the UK. If something goes wrong, I can only send a message on Slack to Evolve.

Things have always been nutty here - it took FOUR years to migrate from vBulletin to Xenforo. Throw in losing both Fugu and Buffaloed to cancer and it has been a bumpy ride. Call me a fool, but I love this HF Bruins community. It's too much to walk away now, but I came close on Friday.

If you have an issue, send me a PM, and it may take a few days, but I will try and fix it.

Please keep in mind I have to oversee all of the communities here at HF with my whopping yearly salary of $0.00

I am trying to rebuild Sportsbook from scratch and somehow it is functional again in time for March Madness.

On top of this is watching the B's go from the best regular season team in NHL history to what they are now in 23 months.

I am 2 weeks away from a milestone birthday that shocks me only because I don't feel or act that old. But the reality is one of Peter Gammons' first bylines in the Globe was a story about me getting screwed out of Bruins playoff tickets.

And my parents first met at a Bruins game......................

We have the BEST moderating staff on HF and we will get through this.

Maybe I should write a book :)
Thanks Fenway and all of those who put in hard work and dedication to HF Boards ...much appreciated!!

Hope you have a great birthday in a couple of weeks ...regardless of your age

..and yes ...you should write a book
