A message to the HF Bruins community

Cant thank you enough Kevin.

Folks, as he says everything that has gone wrong here takes a tremendous toll on those trying to fix it. All while suffering the slings and arrows of those frustrated.

We are all volunteers. Not a red cent or anything else for that.

It’s all out of love of the game and more so love for this community that has become a part of the fabric of our lives .

Thanks again Kevin for all you do. My friend.
Thanks to all that are invested in this. I’m going reup again soon. Would it help you guys if you went up on sponsorship? Could you hire help with this. Also, I’m sure there are IT guys on this site that could probably help you guys.

What was a minor inconvenience to us sounds like a major stress event to you. What you have given to keep this site going is irreplaceable. But so are you Fenway and if it comes done to this place or your well-being it is all you. You may not have gotten those playoff tickets but as the hardest working man in show business you have earned your ticket for our love and respect. Take care of yourself above all else.
Here! Here!

(And there there!)

I would guess it cant hurt.

Plus sooner or later Im betting those ads return.

Thanks again Kevin for all you do. My Catholic friend.

What is a community but an extended family?

I have seven brothers and sisters (four boys, four girls: *Catholic!*).

I believe I understand family relatively well.

The good stuff and the bad stuff.

Without getting silly about it, we are a kind of family here, arguing, bitching, enthusing, and sharing our love & fanaticism for our beloved Bruins.

(So help us God, and God help us.)

So, appreciate what we have here, and let those who make it possible know this.

*Thanks again to all our mods,*

Last week my garbage disposal broke and we were without it for about five days before I could get it replaced. I realized in those five days how much I use it and don’t even think about it. I had the same feelings when HF was down, missing out on just hanging out in the GDT and checking in on other posts, I don’t know any of you personally, but having been here for 20+, I feel like I do. Long story short, thank you for all you do, I realize now how much I cherish my time here. 😊❤️👍

Kevin/Fenway

It's dedicated people like you that make this site what it is...not being able to log in for a couple of days was an inconvenience- on the other hand keeping this site up and running is truly a labor of Heruclean proportions

My deepest and sincerest thanks

They say you'll live longer reading the funny papers rather than the obits with morning coffee and this community, our community, waffles between both extremes, sometimes in a moment's notice . . .but it's home.

How else could a Upstate NY'er get Bruins info in the early days of the interweb. The early incarnations of this place were a godsend.

And fun it is/was. More times than I care to remember, overt laughter, invites to "coffee," flat out threats, bans, posters resurfacing . . .and through it all, a passionate group of fans and many of you, close friends.

When Covid hit, and all AA rooms closed, we still had a network of cell phone contacts, meetings surfaced on something called Zoom, we met in outdoor pavillions during rain and snowstorms.

When this place went silent, I really thought, well thats it. A great run, but wow, I was noticing the start of the grieving process.

Fenway, Wally, and so many more volunteers, THANK YOU does not seem enough. I remember Board get-to-gethers at Rinks for some . . . I fear with 60 staring at me, that drop in hockey is no more, but maybe a get-to-gether to honour the Volunteers here who do so much for so little.

Despite the train wreck of a season, no group I'd rather be with . . .I'm the Cello player as the band plays on the deck of the Titanic.

First of all, thank you so much for all you do. You have always gone above and beyond for us here and are the backbone of our forum. The fact that you do it out of the goodness of your heart speaks volumes as to your character, and the love of the Bruins and fans of the team. Very few would be willing to give up so much of their lives for no monetary return. I am always amazed at how much you can get done, all the while working in an industry that is very busy and chaotic.

As I mentioned in another thread, I do not blame anyone here for the issues. It is backbreaking work to rebuild from scratch. Your fears about the time difference were valid, it doesn't make sense unless they have 24 hour support.

Write that book! I promise, I will pre-order when the time comes. Your life history is fascinating, all the stories you share are amazing.

Take care, my friend. I wish you all the very best. 💕

This crash took a lot out of the volunteer staff, including me.

A year ago, the owner contracted with a cloud server company in the UK that also designs the forum software. What I was concerned about at the time proved to be dead on - NOBODY involved with HF Boards has shell access to the server. Right now there is an 8 hour time difference between the Evolve techs and the UK. If something goes wrong, I can only send a message on Slack to Evolve.

Things have always been nutty here - it took FOUR years to migrate from vBulletin to Xenforo. Throw in losing both Fugu and Buffaloed to cancer and it has been a bumpy ride. Call me a fool, but I love this HF Bruins community. It's too much to walk away now, but I came close on Friday.

If you have an issue, send me a PM, and it may take a few days, but I will try and fix it.

Please keep in mind I have to oversee all of the communities here at HF with my whopping yearly salary of $0.00

I am trying to rebuild Sportsbook from scratch and somehow it is functional again in time for March Madness.

On top of this is watching the B's go from the best regular season team in NHL history to what they are now in 23 months.

I am 2 weeks away from a milestone birthday that shocks me only because I don't feel or act that old. But the reality is one of Peter Gammons' first bylines in the Globe was a story about me getting screwed out of Bruins playoff tickets.

And my parents first met at a Bruins game......................

We have the BEST moderating staff on HF and we will get through this.

Maybe I should write a book :)

Kevin, thank you for all that you do.
I remember this article. What year was that? I thought that it was a bit bonkers to sleep outside in that rough area with rodents.
IIRC, it was before the movie "Willard."
But your love for the team overtook any fear or reluctance.
I don't remember your name from back then but I remember talking to friends about it. You were unique then, you are
unique in the best possible way now.
That doesn't at all explain ALL THAT YOU DO.
Up until just now, I had no idea that you are literally
CHIEF COOD AND BOTTLE WASHER.
This isn't meant to downplay what you do.
To hold this whole thing, even for the love of it is
"BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY."
There are no medals that we can pin on your chest.
No stripes that we can put on your shoulders.
I salute you for it all and doing it all here is
the definition of "BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY."
Up until now, I thought that it was a team that
a group of peeps here worked with.
I had no idea that you ARE THAT GROUP.
YOU!
There are no words, except to express my gratitude and Aww
at what you accomplish every day in your life.
It is astounding. With sincere gratitude---
God Bless!

The key to a good site is moderation.
Here the moderation is good to very good.
I came from Metroboards (early 2000) where the moderation was good that went sideways to horrible and people left in droves eventually closing down. Many landed up here.

So keep up the good work mods. I know if I was one I'd likely have to ban myself.

@Fenway This Forum is extremely important to me. I knew that already but it was certainly underscored again the last few days.

Allow me to rant.

1) ALL OF YOU. — pay for a f***ing 12 dollar sponsorship. It’s 12 dollars — are you that f***ing cheap?
2) Those who have been bitching about the site outside of #1 above? f*** off.
3) THANK YOU to all of the unselfish Mods, Leaders, Volunteers like yourself who allow this thing to run. THANK YOU.

Somehow, we are a garbage disposal! 😉 I get your point. 👍🏻
