The Oilers Question™ of the past like, 15 seasons.
I really wonder how someone like Markstrom would have fared when he was available from Vancouver and Calgary.

What are the Oilers' available assets of value? I assume they won't be detracting roster players.

Just to stir the pot, what is being offered for Demko?

Skip the whole "inter-division tax" BS, what does Edmonton offer for a Vezina runner up?

If he were healthy just about everything that's not bolted down. As he is now? I'm not sure without knowing his injury history and prognosis going forward.

Not sure how he would've done TBH.

Picks and prospects mostly. Savoie is off limits unless it's for a really big get.

Vejmelka
Gibson
Demko
Binnington

I could see any of these guys be available for the right price, but I feel that only Vejmelka and MAYBE Gibson would be a good choice.
How good is Vejmelka? His stats prior to this season have been unspectacular and last season Ingram was the #1 there.

If I knew, I'd disclose something (although by the time I hear anything it would be on its 3rd or 4th news cycle), but the last I heard it hasn't got anything to do with his previous injuries, which are in and of themselves apparently unrelated.

Assuming thats true, and he's back at mostly healthy sooner rather than later, with McDavid, Bouchard and Draisaitl not withstanding, whatcha got?

What pieces is Edmonton making available for said starting goalie? That would be a start. Outside of a 2026 1st, there’s really not much for teams to work with minus some middling prospects.

IF he were healthy and playing well I would offer our 1st + 2nd for him.

It depends on what the other team is looking for. Savoie is off the table. Beau Akey would be one of our few decent prospects that I'd consider moving in such a deal.

Judging by the Oiler board, the only players they are willing to move are Evander Kane, Jeff Skinner, Stew Skinner, Victor Arvedsson, Adam Henrique and Brett Kuluk. So pretty much the oilers are not willing to move anything of value. Unless they put one of Bouchard, Hyman, or or one of the duo up? They are not getting a legit number one goalie till McDavid and Leon are in the Hall of fame

.
...isn't he back on IR??...
Week to week, and not with the Canucks for the next three games. Given our management's disclosure with his injury this year, that could be a solid week off, or he's going to be forced to retire. So....eh.
IF he were healthy and playing well I would offer our 1st + 2nd for him.
More then I thought, but less than I think he's worth. So actually....yeah, when we get a fully cleared Demko I think we can work on that.

IF he's healthy I'd pay a mint as long as he gets his game in order.

What makes this latest injury so frustrating is that he looked to be almost back to full strength after being injured from last years playoffs (more of a hereditary thing, not due to a tweak or impact), so I can vouch for him getting back in game shape pretty quickly....IF he's healthy at the time.

Based on McDavid’s comments I could see them target Billington. I don’t care if it’s him or Gibson. Just go get someone already. Fire Schwartz while at it.

Most Preds fans would probably hand you Saros for "free"... if you'd take his forthcoming contract extension. :dunno:

And he'd probably be really good for the next 3-5 years and be a great pickup for the Oilers. A la Ekholm.

Just... of course, Barry Trotz is not going to be on the same page, alas, so it's not very realistic. Unless he has some kind of come-to-Jesus epiphany.
