Not frustrated at allConnor Bedard to Montréal
Bedard seems frustrated with what's going on in Chicago
Montréal has a f***ing boatload of picks and prospects
Let's do that

With his high profile, the trade would slaughter the Habs in all honesty. Chicago would get an absolute haul for him if he was to be moved. It wouldn't be that bad, because the media also have other guys to go after too
He wouldn't be the sole offensive player on the Habs, like he would have been 5 years ago

Unless I missed something (maybe I did) I don't remember any reasonable Habs posters forcing Laine, Anderson, Matheson and Gallagher into a trade proposal for Horvat or other legitimate 2C's. The Habs have a lot of valuable pieces they can trade (multiple 1st and young high-end prospects) they just need to find the right dance partner.I brought them up simply because of the fact they're all cap dumps (aka garbage contracts) that Montreal would try to send in return for Barzal/Horvat. None of which the Islanders would even entertain in return. Pre Nelson trade to Colorado, Matheson was pushed to the Islanders as part of the return for a deal for "cap purposes". Even previous trade posts for Dobson had him involved like he'd be useful for the Islanders.
I brought up the math calculation previouslywhen it comes to trades for both Barzal and Horvat. Say both Barzal and Horvat are valued at $1, Habs fans are offering 3 quarters and a dime in return trying to claim its fair value. The Barzal/Horvat trades outside of maybe 2 or 3 posters have been pushing Mailloux and a 1st (with filler pieces) like its a fair market return for a quality 2C with term. No one is touching that offer when teams will offer better prospects/younger roster players for comparable players. Offering multiple picks/prospects really doesn't cut it for most teams unless team wants to rebuild and for the Islanders it's really not smart based on the current contract situation of quite a few players.Unless I missed something (maybe I did) I don't remember reasonable Habs posters forcing Laine, Anderson, Matheson and Gallagher into a trade proposal for Horvat or other legitimate 2C's. It seems pretty clear to me, that your view of the Habs is tainted by reading garbage on HFB and the lowest IQ Habs fan posters, and not actually watching the team.
If you did watch the team somewhat regularly, you'd see that both Gallagher (2 x 6.5M) and Anderson (2 x 5.5M) while being overpaid have played very well this season, Matheson (1 x 4.8M) is way overused by the coach, but is still a top 4D, and Laine (1 x 8.7M) while being a one-dimensional scorer is still working himself into shape after a long time off and a lot of personal struggles. While I'd say 3 of the 4 aren't playing up the value of their contracts, this year at least, they haven't been terrible.
So.... you're the one bringing them up, to justify your past comment about garbage contracts?I brought them up simply because of the fact they're all cap dumps (aka garbage contracts) that Montreal would try to send in return for Barzal/Horvat. Chicago would hang up the phone and laugh. Teams will offer multiple prospects in addition to multiple 1sts. Moving a guy like Bedard would essentially cost well beyond a higher end prospect and multiple 1sts. He would essentially be the highest profile young player put up in who knows how long. It would cost both Hage and Reinbacher plus the picks and whatever other odds and ends.I'd be ready to throw a truckload of 1st round picks in Chicago's direction to make it happen
Choice of Hage or Reinbacher (our two best prospects, one is a center, the other is a RHD)
2025 1st Montréal
2025 1st Calgary
2025 3rd Montréal

I'm bringing them up because the Islanders don't have an interest/use for any of them in return for Barzal or Horvat. Especially if they're included for cap purposes to offset salaries.So.... you're the one bringing them up, to justify your past comment about garbage contracts?
This is laughable.I'm bringing them up because the Islanders don't have an interest/use for any of them in return for Barzal or Horvat. Especially if they're included for cap purposes to offset salaries.
So you think 2025 1st/Hage or Mailloux/Dach (or another one of those cap dumps) would really get it done for Barzal or Horvat and make sense for the Islanders? This is what i'm getting at. Making a trade for a 2C will need to include a quality young roster player (who isn't a walking IR spot), quality prospect and a 1st.This is laughable.
Plus 30 million dollarsChicago would hang up the phone and laugh. Teams will offer multiple prospects in addition to multiple 1sts. Just so we're clear here, you're saying that Islanders have no use for the 2025 1st's or assets like Hage and Mailloux, because they aren't quality pieces? So you think 2025 1st/Hage or Mailloux/Dach (or another one of those cap dumps) would really get it done for Barzal or Horvat and make sense for the Islanders? No the Isles have no use for those veterans that would be thrown in to offset the cap in exchange for a player like Horvat or Barzal. I posted up 1st/Hage/Newhook before as a basis of a deal for Barzal/Horvat and that apparently was way too much to ask in return. Even if it’s under the premise the Islanders are rebuilding, those cap dump contracts (no matter how they’re playing this year) just increase the cost and do nothing to help the Islanders out. Personally I don’t want Mailloux the same way I told Vancouver fans no to Mynio and Toronto fans no to Roberson multiple times over the year. The Isles move a 2C, they need to pick up pieces to replace that player not a future replacement for Scott Mayfield.Just so we're clear here, you're saying that Islanders have no use for the 2025 1st's or assets like Hage and Mailloux, because they aren't quality pieces?
You understand this potential trade wouldn't be a deadline deal, and it would be under the premise of the Islanders rebuilding/ retooling, right?
remind us again what Isles gave up to get horvat ?So you think 2025 1st/Hage or Mailloux/Dach (or another one of those cap dumps) would really get it done for Barzal or Horvat and make sense for the Islanders? So they take a lowball deal for him because it’s 2 summers later and Montreal wants a good 2C? Let me know how that works out with every other player based on the previous deal they went for.remind us again what Isles gave up to get horvat ?
Beauvillier (journeyman; 5 teams since he left NYI), Räty (9 goals 46 games - tbd) and a 2023 conditional first-round pick - the Canucks flipped the pick for Hronek.
So Horvat is now worth more? +2 years later? @ 30?
I'd like to know the Habs equivalent from you - and I realize every situation is different. So they take a lowball deal for him because it’s 2 summers later and Montreal wants a good 2C? Let me know how that works out with every other player based on the previous deal they went for.
At the time of Beauvillier being traded the Isles were his only team so to say that Horvat would go for an identical deal or less because he’s 2 years older is just not smart. If you want to match up a deal idencially like that it’s realistically: 1st, Hage, Evans/Armia. Beauvillier is younger and outproduced both Evans and Armia at his age plus throughout his career. Raty at the time was a B tier prospect and the Isles best prospect. The picks are a wash.I'd like to know the Habs equivalent from you - and I realize every situation is different.
Hage is a much better prospect than RatyAt the time of Beauvillier being traded the Isles were his only team so to say that Horvat would go for an identical deal or less because he’s 2 years older is just not smart. Habs would have to give up both Hage and Reinbacher for Bedard, let’s be real here. Hawks want young players if they’re giving Bedard upI'd be ready to throw a truckload of 1st round picks in Chicago's direction to make it happen

Both are B tier center prospects. Not getting into semantics that Hage now is better than Raty now. If that’s not a good comparison what would you claim is the present day equivalent in Habs land to 1st/Raty/Beauvillier?Hage is a much better prospect than Raty
Any 2 of Beck, Newhook, Roy and kapanen and a 1st. And I’m 100% certain Hughes wouldn’t give up both Beck and kapanen. Both are B tier center prospects.
