My favorite example of this is attempting to buy a parking pass on the Wells Fargo center website for Flyers games...

The parking pass is $22 and then they add a $4 fee and then an $8 order charge for a grand total of $34.

I turned right back at the non-crossroads so I haven’t even seen the tree. I just figured I should give my advice even though I know these fools will just go ahead and try to talk to the diabolical thing. Which is just going to steal their souls and leave them empty husks of what they had been.

No, I rarely went for years before Covid. It's ridiculous when you have a ticket price, then the final cost is ~50% higher due to all the various fees. So unless I can get tickets either cash direct from the seller or it's a venue where the price is the price, I generally opt out.

That works just as well. I particularly started to hate concerts in arenas — there were always clowns in front of you standing up for no particular reason, obstructing your view all night and not giving two craps. The mall cops the arena hires as security are completely overwhelmed.

@Captain Dave Poulin have you done the LOTR audiobook? Andy Serkis is having the time of his f***ing life doing this.

So every once in a while, someone posts something here that is actually useful. This is one of those times. I had recently started re-reading LOTR again, for like the 50th time. I never even thought of doing an audiobook. Possibly because I’ve never done an audiobook before. (Kind of thought they were for people who can’t read).

Anyway, I listened to samples and wound up getting the Rob Inglis version rather than the Andy Serkis version. Rob Inglis sounds a lot like Alec Guiness, so that’s pretty cool having Alec Guiness read me a bed-time story every night. I did get the Andy Serkis version of The Hobbit though.
